I don't know if you'll like it but I build a video about Great white sharks... Maybe you already saw it! Enjoy

Wow! That is amazing. I really admire your creativity in showing off how powerful those attacks can be. It really makes me feel a sense of awe about the Great White. They're incredible creatures. I love the choice of music as well. Thanks for sharing it.

I have a couple of the Air Jaws DVDs, but I haven't got round to watching them all yet. I've got lots of Discovery Channel documentaries as well. Love them!

Glad you like it! My videos are made for fans so their pleasure is my pleasure. But it takes me a lot of time (mostly editing). And some years ago I lost all my videos sequences (my HDD burnt) about all the music videos I was planning to build. That's why I couldn't create another "Dallas" videos (I made 3 of them but don't know if you're a fan or not) or any other videos. I had some music videos in "stand by": Great white video, Terminator video, Dallas video... Too bad...
I have a couple of the Air Jaws DVDs, but I haven't got round to watching them all yet. I've got lots of Discovery Channel documentaries as well. Love them!
Yes also have a lot of Discovery Channel documentaries. Love each of them! And many books too...
PS: Do you know/like Ocean Ramsey? That woman impress me...

Yes, I can appreciate the time and work that goes into each second of these videos. It's certainly worth it looking at the end result.

And some years ago I lost all my videos sequences (my HDD burnt) about all the music videos I was planning to build.

That sounds very frustrating. I suppose there's nowhere that's 100% safe to store all the videos.

"Dallas" videos (I made 3 of them but don't know if you're a fan or not)

Oh, of course I am! Isn't everyone?! ;)

PS: Do you know/like Ocean Ramsey? That woman impress me...

I saw the footage of her swimming with Deep Blue and thought it was amazing. I wasn't sure how to feel about her following and repeatedly touching the shark when she was trying to swim away, but Deep Blue seemed to be OK with it.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to watch this video outside the UK, but I read this article the other day and thought it was such a beautiful story.

If you can't see it, here's a different video with the same guy talking about Emma theTiger Shark:

“Tu besoin une bateau Grande!” @JR-Rules
Great! We can talk in french now :D:D
In french translation was "Il nous faudrait un plus grand bateau"

By the way in the original JAWS I was asking myself a question that, I guess, only english/american people can answer.
Brody says "You're gonna need a bigger boat". Why "YOU" instead of "WE"?? Is he talking to Quint only because he's "Orca" owner?
Why didn't he say "WE're gonne need a bigger boat"??

Oho - that makes me think of Jeannot Schwarz talking about the reason they had to be careful with the title of the sequel:
:Clol: You're absolutely right!!
Enjoy your re-re-re-watch. There's something very special about watching Jaws "live" on TV.
THANKS!! Yes I don't know why but I have to watch when it's on TV.
Only regret: the dubbing!
The 1975 french dubbing is perfect.
For some reasons there was another french dubbing in 2004... I don't like it. And they only used the 2004 version each time JAWS is on TV...
Glad they saved the orginal dubbing on Blu Ray version!

You've got it exactly right. I think he says "you're gonna need" to Quint because it's Quint's boat. I think it's an interesting choice of wording because it shows that Martin is so shaken by seeing the shark that he realises how powerless he is and that he has to rely on Quint's expertise. It's another little red herring so that it's even more surprising when Martin ends up being the hero of the hour.

Of course, it's one of the most misquoted lines in the history of cinema, because almost everyone thinks it's "we're gonna need a bigger boat" (if you do a search for "Jaws" and "Mandela effect" there are loads of articles about how people have convinced themselves so much that the correct line sounds wrong to them).

I don't know why but I have to watch when it's on TV.

That's great. Have there been any surprises with the TV screenings? I know the American TV debut included the deleted scenes (which now appear on the Blu-ray as a bonus feature) so it ran longer, which meant more commercials, which meant more money from advertisers).

I still remember where some of the adverts were placed from the first time I watched Jaws on TV. And I also remember the cuts made to Jaws 3D so it was more family friendly (they did that in British cinemas as well).

One of the nicest surprises I had was watching Jaws The Revenge on TV and it had the original ending without the exploding shark. This was decades before that ending appeared on Blu-ray, and I'd never seen it before, even though I'd heard about it. I was really excited.

Oh, that's a shame. I wonder why they re-dubbed it. Have you noticed any small changes to the wording between the 1975 and 2004 versions?

I guess you're 100% right about the way Brody is thinking... Since I watch JAWS in french the dubbing always was "WE" instead of "YOU" so I was surprised when I watched it in english... I will take a look at the mandela effect tonight, thanks!!;)

As a die hard fan I think it's great to add deleted scenes and, as you said, it means more time/ads/money...
On the other side there's a reason why Speilberg had to cut some scenes for many reasons so I'll always stick to the original version, but will always watch the deleted scenes once I watch it on my blu ray ;):D

Interesting question. To be fair I think there's no changes but I'm not 100% sure (shame on me!!)
I should watch it on 2 separate screens and making pause at the end of each scene!!

You did really well to notice it. Lots of people haven't.

Most definitely. It's easy to see why Verna Fields won the Oscar for Best Editing as it's so beautifully put together. Not a second too long or short. If it was any longer or any shorter it just wouldn't feel right.

but will always watch the deleted scenes once I watch it on my blu ray ;):D

I was thrilled when they first appeared on home media (I think it was a Jaws VHS that had some bonus material at the end, but I might be misremembering. Perhaps it was the first DVD). It was fascinating to realise how much impact the "new" scenes had on me because I didn't know them at all. I found the scene where Cassidy is looking at Chrissie's remains really tense and stressful, which goes to show how well Jaws continues to work.

I'd be curious to see an extended version of the film with these scenes edited in, but as we've said, the film probably works best without them. I'm glad Jaws is considered definitive as it is and there haven't been numerous different versions. Many years ago, I bought Spielberg's Close Encounters Of The Third Kind on Blu-ray and I think that has three different versions. But I've never got round to watching the extended versions because the film felt so "right" as it was.

I'm also very grateful that the enhancements Steven Spielberg had made to Jaws for HD are incredibly subtle, with stuff that we don't notice, such as colour grading so that the sky matches up from shot to shot,

To be fair I think there's no changes but I'm not 100% sure (shame on me!!)

That's interesting. I'd wondered if they'd changed it because some language wasn't as acceptable in the 21st Century. But that's just because I can't think why else they would re-dub it.

I should watch it on 2 separate screens and making pause at the end of each scene!!

Perhaps when you have your fourth watch of 2021. :D

Actually, when I buy DVD/Blu Ray I really enjoy all the bonus materials! But I guess, when you're a fan, you're interested by all the extra stuff which allows us a better understanding of the film, or about the director vision, why did he did this or that...
That's interesting. I'd wondered if they'd changed it because some language wasn't as acceptable in the 21st Century. But that's just because I can't think why else they would re-dub it.
I really have no idea what line would have been unacceptable. The only line (or, I must say, word) I remember had a (little) change occurs when Martin is with his son who mimics his father. At the end Martin is asking for a kiss. In the 1975 french dubbing they translate that as a "hug", in 2004 they translate with the correct word.

I know we used to have the same "french voice" for big stars so it's pretty frustrating when a star actor is not dubbed as usual. In that case I just tought the 1st dubbing was simply perfect. One exemple: when Robert Shaw is telling us the "USS Indianapolis" story, we're in immersion, focused, with a perfect voice, a deep voice, a "darker" voice who left us totally hooked until the end.
Perhaps when you have your fourth watch of 2021. :D
SURE!
By the way, In each of my watch I can't do otherwise but pointing out (minor, funny) inconsistencies. I really like to find inconsistencies in movies because I really think it's too hard to always match the initial script because we're watching a film for 2 hours but sometimes it takes weeks between two scenes. For exemple they can shoot an interior scene one day and the next scene (exterior scene for exemple) weeks after that.
Do you do that?? And what are the inconsistencies you can't help but take note?

Mine are about the killing dates, barrels and and and and... the Quint chair!!
What the hell did they do with that chair to make it disappear in a heartbeat? :rlol:

Yes. It's a bit of a shame that Spielberg's never done an audio commentary for Jaws (I think he dislikes them), and a greater shame still that many of the cast are now gone so a group commentary could never happen. But I'm very glad we've had so many great documentaries about the film, like The Making Of Jaws and The Shark Is Still Working.

Interesting. Because there seems to be no real reason for them to re-dub I can't understand why it's been done.

Do you do that?? And what are the inconsistencies you can't help but take note?

There are a few tiny little continuity errors that I usually spot, like a change in the actor's pose when the camera changes angles. The timeline of the dates has bothered me as well.

There are also some tiny little errors that could be explained as a mistake by the character. For example, on the "Shark Attack" form after Chrissie's death, you can clearly see Brody has written "Corners Office" instead of "Coroner's Office". Note that the date is 1974 as well, setting the events one year earlier than the film's release date.

iu

The main inconsistencies for me are with the shark. I can often tell where in the shooting process they are by what state Bruce is in. And of course I always know which shots are using real sharks from Ron and Valerie's shoot as the real Great Whites look so different. It's all part of the fun.

the Quint chair!!

Oh - I hadn't noticed. Do you mean the fighting chair he straps himself into, or another chair?

Yes, brilliant documentaries... I love all the extra stuff. I guess many people only care about the movie ans that's it! Personally I love all the stories behind the scenes!

I know and whatever happens they never show us the movie with the 1975 dubbing... I never understood that...

I really can live with 1974 because in many movies we can relate to the actual date like, for exemple, a character reading a newspaper... I'm fine with that.
And you're 100% right about "corner" instead of "coroner". It may be a character's mistake.
I mainly talked about errors about editing and/or timeline. Just for your curiosity I will post all the inconsistencies right after that post.

@Mel O'Drama Some inconsistencies/mistakes:

1) Brody's watch ;)
Brody 1.jpg
Brody 2.jpg

2) Orca's number. In 1 shot we can clearly see "15 LF".... On another shot we can see "MS 15 LF". Since they changed their boat, why the hell didn't they use a bigger boat :haha:

Next...

3) Quint's Bandana. In the heat of the fight with Bruce, it seems Quint had the time to put his bandana on after he loses it :D

With Bandana
Quint 1.jpg
Then he loses his bandana
Quint 2.jpg
Then he wears his bandana again
Quint 3.jpg

4) Victims timeline. As you mentioned, Chrissie was killed July 1 (and discovered July 2). Then you can clearly see that Mrs Kintner offers $3000 to kill the shak who killed his son June 29th! The second victim was killed BEFORE the first victim!
By the way June 29th 1974 is not sunday but saturday...
Chrissie.jpg
Kintner.jpg

5) Barrels. No shots will prove what I say since I can take caps here and there with no evidence of the timeline.
There's 5 barrels at first. Then they used 1 barrel... After that it seems the first barrel was not attached to Bruce anymore for whatever reasons.
So it remains 4 barrels.
After that they used 3 barrels. I clearly remember the shot after Quint thrown the second barrel (so 3 overall). We can see 3 barrels remaining instead of 2 and the shot after we can see 2 barrels.
Finally after throwing 1 barrel THEN 3 barrels it must remained only....... 1 barrel. But it remained 2 allowing Martin & Matt to come back safe.

BONUS: I also mentionned the guy in the pond who was killed barefeet but with his cutting leg wearing a basket in the next shot :haha:

I love all the extra stuff. I guess many people only care about the movie ans that's it! Personally I love all the stories behind the scenes!

Same here. And with Jaws, the film is all the more interesting because of the legendary and numerous off-screen problems.

Have you read Carl Gottlieb's book The Jaws Log? It's an excellent book written by someone who was right in the centre of things (even though he ended up writing less and less for his own character with each rewrite).

You're right. I don't forget it's 1974 so wa can clearly make a difference between real great white sharks shots and Bruce... But hey it's 1974 and years after great white in sharks movies are not better...

Oh gosh. Now I've seen it I'll never be able to not see it when watching.

1) Brody's watch ;)

Oh yes. This was mentioned in some of the behind the scenes stuff. Roy Scheider kept taking it off between takes so he didn't get a tan line. Apparently his tanning was a problem as well as he kept changing colour so they had trouble lining his shots up.

Since they changed their boat, why the hell didn't they use a bigger boat

Ha ha. I reckon Bruce took the "MS" off to make sure they weren't found.

Quint's Bandana. In the heat of the fight with Bruce, it seems Quint had the time to put his bandana on after he loses it :D

The 'boat line' is frequently mentioned in The Mandela Effect:

1637349785692.png

Steven Spielberg’s 1975 classic suspense thriller about a killer shark terrorising the inhabitants of a small seaside town features one of the most consistently misquoted lines in movie history.

People often say “We’re gonna need a bigger boat” when they want to point out that something is entirely inadequate for a demanding task. The line is supposedly delivered by Sheriff Brody (Roy Scheider) to shark hunter Quint (Robert Shaw) when he finally catches sight of the giant shark.

But most people get the quote wrong. In reality it’s: “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

There are some great-looking ones today, and animatronics have come a long way as well. Some of the footage I've seen I'd swear was a real shark if I didn't know.
