TV Couples.png

Telly Talk is on another mission to find out its members' favourite couples from any TV show.

Please take this opportunity to list your top 20 favourite pairings. It will be interesting to see how each member ranks their favourites and to see which are the most popular couples on Telly Talk.

As you know, there will be seven categories with an additional vote at the end of this process to see which couple comes on top from all the categories.

Our third mission is

favourite pairings.png

giphy.gif

This is not about sexual chemistry or love. We have exhausted those in the previous two missions. We also have Comedy Pairings coming up too. Let's find out which two characters that you love to see without all that love, sex and nonsense.

A recap of how to play your part in this

• Vote by listing your top 20 favourite two characters that you believe work well together from any TV show.
• Please name the TV show your couple appears in.
• 20 couples are the max, but any less than 20 is perfectly acceptable.
• You can include your reasons behind each couple, but it is not compulsory.
• All couples are included, whether animated, computer-generated, alien, muppet, puppet, or animal.
• Any show, any genre, any country.
• Fictional characters only.
• No couple is a wrong answer; go for it if you believe they fit your chosen category.

I´m not sure if we can nominate just couples that work together good or even that work brilliant AGAINST each other and that´s why I like to see them together ...

like Angela & Melissa (FC), they worked brilliant AGAINST each other, their fight was so brilliant ...?

Both those options work.

It’s about what works for you the viewer. So it’s not why two characters are drawn to each other and more about what two characters you think make great entertainment.

That’s a great example.

Characters that you always find entertaining to watch in scenes together. No romantic feelings or sexual lust. Pairings like JR and Cliff, right? Or Penny and Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.

For this one I focused for the most part on pairs that worked together. There are a couple who are together because they were in laws and some who were friends but also went into business together a few times.

1. Mulder and Scully- The X-Files(They fit into every category of this contest. In the beginning of the series when they hadn't yet developed any personal or romantic geelings, their pairing was sublime).

2. JR and Sly -(Dallas)
3. Mack and Ben-Knots Landing
4. Mack and Frank Williams- Knots Landing
5. Karen and Abby - Knots Landing
6. JR and Pam- Dallas
7. Paige and Linda- Knots Landing
8. Ray and Clayton- Dallas

10. Fred and Lamont- Sanford and Son
11. Geraldine Jones and David Frost- The Flip Wilson Show

--Lt. Mike Stone and Insp. Steve Keller of The Streets of San Francisco (Karl Malden and Michael Douglas): one (Stone) was a 20-plus-year veteran of the San Francisco Police Dept., and the other (Keller) was a college graduate; over four seasons (1972-76), Stone ably taught Keller the ways of police and detective work, and helped Keller become a better cop/detective (the two actors who played them also had an excellent unofficial father-son relationship). The last season had Stone with Insp. Dan Robbins (the late Richard Hatch); it was pretty much the same setup as with Keller, but didn't last as long (only for that final season).

--Paladin and Hey Boy of Have Gun Will Travel (Richard Boone and Kam Tong): the main character, the "knight without armor" named Paladin, lived at a ritzy San Francisco hotel called the Hotel Carlton, and dressed in black whenever he found a job to take on; Hey Boy was the bellhop at the Carlton, and one of his jobs was to, in many episodes, bring Paladin several newspapers to look through (Paladin would usually find a job to take on in one of those papers, after which he would lay down his business card on the relevant story in that paper to show that he was embarking on that job).

Goodness - that wasn't easy. There are far too many combinations out there.

This round has reinforced what a great energy Constance McCashin had with her screen partners on Knots. I wouldn't have predicted that Laura would feature so much. I've also realised I cannot get enough of any combination of Bobby/Donald/Morag on early Home and Away.

1. Elizabeth Bligh and Sarah Adams - A Place To Call Home

2. Christine Cagney and Mary Beth Lacey - Cagney & Lacey

3. Elsie Tanner and Ena Sharples - Coronation Street

4. Richard Avery and Karen Fairgate - Knots Landing

5. Billy Rizley & Iggy Higson - One Summer

6. Donald Fisher and Morag Bellingham - Home And Away

7. Morag Bellingham and Ailsa Stewart - Home And Away

8. Ellie Ewing and Ray Krebbs - Dallas

9. Martin and Peter Healy - Sons And Daughters

10. Laura Avery and Abby Cunningham- Knots Landing

11. Lou Beale and Arthur Fowler - EastEnders

12. Krystle Carrington and Joseph Anders - Dynasty

13. Patricia Hamilton and Beryl Palmer - Sons And Daughters

14. Abby Cunningham and Valene Ewing - Knots Landing

I only remember one encounter with Cliff/Miss Ellie, when he told her the feud was over. Were there others? would like to see them

That shoebox scene is one of the two I had in mind when voting. The other was when Bobby was kidnapped and Ellie told him she'd be forever grateful to him if he brought Bobby home safely.

They didn't have many scenes together, but I enjoyed the ones they had enough to vote for them as a pairing.
