I have been waiting so long for the final season of these two so to have them both happening at the same time is awesome. Better Call Saul has been knocking it out of the park these first few episodes. And that opening sequence in the first episode, so gorgeous.

I've watched the first 5 episodes non-stop, it's great to see how Wendy keeps pushing her boundaries like "this one more thing" and all in the name of protecting the family. She's corrupted beyond saving but at the same time I admire her for turning a nightmare into an opportunity.
It's become very much a leading ladies show: Wendy, Ruth, Darlene and now Clare. And Charlotte is going to be the most dangerous one of them all.
Most of the male characters are kinda stupidified. Wyatt, Frank Jr and the various male antagonists.
There's also the obligatory shady investigator poking his nosy nose in the Byrde's business, guess how that's going to end.
It's a nice detail that Darlene carries baby Zeke with her when she's bribing, threatening and shooting people.

I watched most of the remaining episodes yesterday. In fact, I've just got the last one left and I've decided save it for next Saturday, like Ye Olde Days of TV watching

Yes you have to admire her, she's got more balls than pretty much anyone on the show. Nothing will stop her getting what she wants and no matter what setbacks are thrown her way she finds a way to overcome them, no matter who needs to be sacrificed. She's become one of those rare breed of characters that you love to hate, well I do anyway.
The ability to multi-task is crucial when you're raising a small baby.
Episode 7 is a kind of mid season finale as the season was split into two, so you've got a pretty exciting couple of episodes ahead of you. Well actually the whole rest of the season stays pretty exciting.
I've just the last one left too but after how the previous one ended I don't think I can wait to find out what happens, I'll be watching it tonight.

It's a bit of cliche, but I think this qualifies as "a fearlessly unsympathetic performance." Neither the actress nor the character is afraid to come across as deeply unlikeable -- which makes the occasional glimpses of her humanity all the more effective.

One of Laura Linney's assets is her vocal range, or maybe not the range but the fishwife volume she's able to produce.

Speaking of which....
What did you think about Wendy's scene with her father on the steps? Where she's on her knees grovelling and begging him not to take her kids. Was it genuine or just a last ditch attempt to try and stop him from taking them? Or a bit of both? She's certainly capable of putting on whatever performance is necessary in any given situation but this was unusually raw for her.

I found the plot development with Omar and Javi and the FBI very confusing. Everything happened so fast and I don't know which deal is real or a set-up.
I no longer understand what everybody wants and where exactly the Byrdes stand right now. They're sort of ready to flee but then...not?
Wendy threatened the FBI to expose something that wasn't done by the book, but what? I must have missed that part too!

The last 4 episodes were awesome. There's also a "farewell to Ozark" with the cast and crew, mostly the usual "wonderful opportunity"/"amazing people to work with" commentary but it's nice if you need a moment to chill out.
I don't know if it was the strongest season but I'm glad they got the chance to finish it properly, and they got Richard Thomas.

I think it was both. Her horrible relationship with her dad is what humanised her the most, I think.
And they got him to say f**k.
I loved it. That's my kind of ending.

Maybe it's a strange thing to say but I found her the most human when she did the most despicable thing: leaving her brother at the diner.
It seemed too heartless to be true but I think people are able to surprise themselves.
Camila was a fantastic and sinister villain, I wish I could have watched more of her.

SPOILERS AHEAD:
I thought it was really good. I managed to stay away from spoilers but I did read a headline saying many fans were disappointed with the ending, so I wondered if it was going to be a satisfying conclusion, and it it was. I guess fans were not happy with Ruth's demise and I can understand that. I would have loved her to prosper running the casino, but of course so many things going right for her in the last couple of episodes could only mean one thing. But I was ok with how things ended for her too.
The one thing I wasn't keen on was the final moment. Making Jonah a murderer at 15 or whatever he is, with his proud parents looking on, didn't really sit well with me. Someone online pointed out that he could have shot the urn and not Mel and I like that better. But then I heard the show runners confirmed that he had indeed killed Mel.
If I had another criticism of the season it that so many people were shot dead! I don't even mind them killing off half the cast but maybe some more inventive deaths could have mixed things up a bit. I mean, Frank Sr, Darlene, Wyatt, Javi, Nelson, Omar, Ruth, Mel, all shot. And there's probably more I can't remember.
Yes, she was great and I would have liked to have seen more of her too. Maybe she should have been more of a presence from the beginning of the season.

I don't think this was a show for happy endings, and I like the idea that the writers tricked their fans into thinking that Ruth would come up trumps.
It was April Stevens Ewing all over again.
I thought it made the story come full circle - family first. And maybe it also underlines the dual narrative in Ozark. There's no escape from cartels or family.
It was Bobby Ewing agreeing to frame Cliff Barnes all over again.

Yes, that was kind of brilliant. There was this unspoken assumption that Ruth would survive because she was this cool loveable kickass character and cool loveable kickass characters always survive - only not in this world. Her murder was sort of dignified though. which I guess was a concession to how great she was.

My favourite characters were the Langmores and I was gutted with episode 7 of the last season.
I wanted to see Wendy killed, and Ruth triumphant, but realise that ending would have been too clean cut in a way that BREAKING BAD was. In the end I loved how it played out and it had a similar ending to THE SHIELD which I thought was perfect.

She was brilliant and reminded me a lot of Irina Derevko from ALIAS.
