Only last week Johnson was saying he not only wanted to serve a second term in office but also a third, now he will be lucky to survive 3 months or maybe even 3 weeks.

It reminds me of this question I posed back in February. His premiership might be shorter than May's after all.
It's the lack of integrity I find most soul-destroying.
I respect both Javid and Sunak for following their consciences. Either would make a better, more respectable party leader in my opinion, and the party is no better off for their resignations.
I was impressed with how Javid came across in leadership debates back in 2019, and his resignation letter didn't mince words in saying that Johnson has failed.
Sunak I find to be quietly likeable and I suspect he's very diplomatic. The wording of his resignation letter makes me wonder what we'll be fed about the economy next week, since it's implicit that he felt it wasn't going to be truthful.

I think he is currently about 30 days short of Theresa May's total so we live in hope for the irony of May surviving longer than the clown.
You're a far more generous and kind person than I am because I have no respect for either of them. Both Javid and Sunak enabled Johnson to inflict damage on our country and it's reputation, they were both complicit in the lies, and they both defended and supported him and allowed it to happen. They are the handmaidens to Johnson's dishonesty and corruption and should not be forgiven.
Yes it was very interesting. He seemed to be hinting that the economy is in a far worse shape than we are being told and the government are trying suggest otherwise.
His actual words were:
"Our country is facing immense challenges. We both want a low-tax, high-growth economy, and world class public services, but this can only be responsibly delivered if we are prepared to work hard, make sacrifices and take difficult decisions. I firmly believe the public are ready to hear that truth. Our people know that if something is too good to be true then it’s not true. They need to know that whilst there is a path to a better future, it is not an easy one."
However, Sunak promised tax cuts in the future when we clearly can't afford them so where is his honesty about that? We know it's "too good to be true". This is why I say Sunak is a handmaiden to Johnson's duplicity.

Sadly, I don't think it will actually happen. Certainly not that quickly.
I can fully understand you feeling that way, and I take the point that they've been complicit, even if it's through inaction up to this point. There seem to be murmurs about a possible leadership contest, so there's that as well.
Housing Minister Stuart Andrew is the latest to resign, saying he's let loyalty and unity override his judgement recently.

36 resignations in the last 24 hours. And at this very moment, Cabinet Ministers have gathered around Johnson to tell him he needs to go.

I've been waiting for the day he was drummed out of office for a very long time and I'm so delighted that when he goes he will be leaving in disgrace.

I'm fuming about today's revelations that Matt Hancock dismissed the advice of his chief medical officer and discharged hospital patients to care homes without testing them first for Covid. His decision was the direct cause of thousands of deaths. Hancock shouldn't be trying to cultivate a career in the media and entertainment, this man should be in prison.

They just can't resist being corrupt. Now Rishi Sunak is under investigation by parliament’s sleaze watchdog over allegations of a possible failure to declare the shares held by his wife in a childcare agency which benefited from measured introduced in the recent Budget. Sunak did not mention his wife’s interest when asked about the childcare reforms at a parliamentary committee last month despite being asked by directly MPs if he had anything to declare.
