What has to be one of the most insane Dynasty related projects ever........... Dynasty: The Making Of A Guilty Pleasure!! Enjoy!!!

A cartoon about a cartoon. Frankly, it captures the perverse spirit of the show in an equally perverse way -- even the glaring inaccuracies are somehow befitting of the real series.

And it's at least as competent.

The Shapiros' home is gorgeously right up my alley.

So true.

For me, it reads like an Esther Shapiro fever-dream of what she possibly perceived her experiences to be during the time of Dynasty. The over the top characterizations of all the Dynasty cast, Aaron Spelling, et all, not to mention Richard Shapiro, along with the total disregard to historical accuracy of the actual creation/making of the show or the show storylines, just screams "Esther Shapiro!" And all serve to make her the focal point saviour of the Dynasty universe and the only one of this motley group with half a brain as presented in this movie!

But, that is just me trying to make sense of the crazy.

And, just for the record, I have watched it twice since discovering it on YouTube the other night, and I love it!!!

When I used dating websites and there was no response from a guy I was interested in, I always asked: „Are you beyond talking?" and they magically started replying and feeling guilty. I guess this phrase must have some kind of impact on people.

I really like some scenes ...
* the filming of Moldavia
*taking the phone and saying "Dynasty number 1 show" - something they really did - like Joan said in an interview
*"here we are the 3 sexiest people on tv"
*"mummy is going to play a real bitch"
*"that makes JR look like Sesame Street"

I think for me, the one scene that really has some gravitas is the scene of "Joan" in full Alexis drag on her first day of shooting Season 2 walking from her dressing room through the studio sound stage towards the courtroom set. This scene is shot single camera point of view style in one continuous shot. While beset upon by various wardrobe and make-up people primping at her, Joan strides past them with a steely smile as the Dynasty theme swells. The speed of the action slows down as Joan makes her way and stops behind the courtroom set double doors, her eyes focused, her smile frozen. As her veil and costume are adjusted one final time, the sounds of the crew and the Director on the other side of the doors indicate filming is about to commence. As the Director yells "Action" Joan turns towards the doors, her back now to us the audience. The theme song crescendos as Joan pushes the double doors open wide and in full Alexis mode strides into the courtroom set straight towards the camera and lights and crew facing the doorway. The doors swing shut. End of scene.

A totally over the top dramatization of Joan walking onto the Dynasty set for the first time, and yet, if that is not how it happened, well, it is how it SHOULD of happened!!! :)

Donna Mills as Alexis, Morgan Fairchild as Krystle and Bob Hope as Blake in a Dynasty spoof for a Bob Hope special on NBC. Morgan doesn't get much to do as Krystle but Donna is hilarious playing Alexis. (starts at 9.42)
