I'm starting to fear our queen hasn't got much longer to live. The recent photos I've seen look like she's losing weight quickly. I hope I'm wrong.

Prince Charles and Camilla have now arrived at Balmoral, with Prince William also on his way, Clarence House and Kensington Palace said.

The Queen is under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace has said.

Prince Charles, Camilla and Prince William are currently travelling to Balmoral, Clarence House and Kensington Palace said.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

The signs are not great for Elizabeth. The sequence of events leading up to this moment and all the family going to Balmoral to see he suggests that all is not well. I think the Palace announcement is to prepare people for some imminent bad news. I hope I'm wrong.

I know it's bad taste to speculate at moments like this but the BBC seem to have been doing just that all afternoon since the announcement from the Palace. I just noticed in this photo for the first time the hyperpigmentation (skin darkening) on the Queen's hand. This is sometimes a side effect of chemotherapy and she has clearly lost a lot of weight recently which may suggest that she has, or has had, cancer.

I think she’s been going steadily downhill since prince Phillip died.

It looks as though she is on her way out else why the need for this announcement.

I think the same. Many spouces who loses their great love of many years tend to die soon after. Happened to my uncle.

It sounds bad for Queen Liz, or else they would not have commented like this. It would be more "the Queen is resting after a long period of work" or "the Queen has a cold and will be resting for a while".

Well I want to wish her a speedy recovery.

Not sure if this is widely known or not but Her Majesty the Queen is a massive fan of the BBCtv series Doctor Who.

I also believe she was also a fan of Dallas, the Queen Mother certainly was because she once asked Larry Hagman who shot him and he was unable to answer her.

So hopefully she has improved and is getting well. Fingers crossed. :)

That is the rumour as to what is happening. So in the photo you posted she likely knew she only had days.

She loves Scotland so probably wanted to be there to die.

It's very sad indeed, despite what people think of the monarchy she has been amazing and a constant throughout good and bad times (especially bad PM's).

It feels we are on the cusp of a new era that feels surreal.

We are a generation who have only known one monarch and all the funerals and crowning of Kings and Queens are viewed as history we see in TV or in books.

Not to overly-personalize things, but she's been Queen for several years before my parents were married (and I'm really long-in-the-tooth now). So it's hard to view the world without her in it someplace.

And apparently she was on the throne for as long as I've been on this Earth (meaning that she was on it when I was born Jan. 3, 1981, apparently).
