Ok, the wife and I have a little girl that just turned one. Her name is Farrah Rae. We have just found out we are expecting again. If it is a girl, we are thinking about two different names: June Harlow or Delaney June.

We want to kinda stay in the tradition of using some classic actor/actress names for our baby.

Delaney June or June Harlow, or any other suggestions?

Well first of all, Congratulations! I assume "June" factors in both choices because the baby's due in June-ish?

Allison June would probably be too on-the-nose, but the actress (June Allyson) was never so famous that people would automatically make the connection. The only issue is that the actress became known to my generation not for the acting career but the commercials she did for Depend undergarments.

All I can add is that I hope you stick to names that have normal spelling and/or pronunciation. This irritating trend of parents giving their kids oddball names has created this army of young people with unpronounceable, bizarre names that only serve to embarrass the poor kid when they just want to fit into their friend group.

Congratulations, how exciting! I vote for Delaney, it could work for either a girl or boy.

We are considering "June" because my wife's birthday is in June. She is indecisive on using her name specifically, so we've toyed with the idea of using "June" as a way of naming a baby after her.

Funny you mention the name Allison. My wife literally mentioned that name to me last night. I honestly didn't even think about any connection with June Allyson, though. I will mention that to her.

No worries there. Neither of us are a fan of the unique spelling choices for names.

My middle name is "Ray", so we gave our daughter the middle name "Rae". We changed the "y" to an "e" though to feminize it some.

Congratulations, how exciting! I vote for Delaney, it could work for either a girl or boy.
Our thoughts exactly!

Wyman Jane would be a good, interesting and unique name for a girl.
My younger step brother has a name similar to Wyman, so I'm not too sure about using anything that would duplicate his name. I will mention it though.

Delaney June or June Harlow, or any other suggestions?

I think the child, when she turns teenager, would prefer June Harlow. Names can be sensitive for kids between 8-18 with all their insecurities they have. But if they have a name that is slightly more common, they blend in more instead of feeling like they stick out like a sore thumb.

June is more common = neutral, while Delaney could go either way among her peers.

I especially see children and teens who aren't really pretty or who are somewhat overweight or who needs glasses and braces at a young age are often teased. And if they also have a rare name, the peers get another ammo to bully them with. Sad and unfair, but children can be brutal. Especially when no grown up is in ear's reach.

Indeed-- you'd be celebrating television history if your second child is a girl and she has that name.
