What if Guzzler Bennett had returned?

Gosh, never in all these years has that ever occurred to me. Liz Craig and Ozwald Valentine would have made a very interesting combination.

As has been sort of mentioned, I feel like they did kind of bring back Guzzler, reincarnated in the body of Matt Cantrell and filtered through the prism of Pam Ewing's subconscious.

At some point I noticed that the Matt Cantrell character may well have been the most “dreamlike” aspect of the Dream Season.

Take Bobby’s old football buddy, transform him from a fluffy-haired cornball con-man (who’d crudely and drunkenly made a pass at Pam) into a bare-chested, square-jawed, conventionally handsome adventurer (who’s also a bit of a con man). Add in a strange “Bobby loved emeralds” theme we’ve never heard mentioned before, and flip the “Bobby’s mentor in college” to “Bobby was his mentor”, then have a “camp out in the wilds of Colombia on the way to an emerald mine only to get kidnapped and cosmetically enhanced” adventure.

It’s totally something Pam’s subconscious would conjure up after an evening with brother Cliff scarfing down Chinese takeout and cheap wine.

(oh wait, it happened after the long-awaited Bobby reconciliation bedroom consummation.. that also works as a “vivid dream trigger”)

hm, who wrote that episode? Another dreamlike, kinda surrealist part of that season was Angelica and her minions - the ‘European’ weirdo trio.. and wasn’t Ms. Nero a Katzman creation? Was Uncle Lenny pulling the strings all along in order to wrest his fiefdom back from the Elders of Lorimar?
