SoapLand - The Battle Of The Companies: The Result

JR is on the phone, discussing the Marinos deal. There is a knock on his office door. It’s Pam with a proposal. She presents it to JR, (a scene from season 8 ‘The Dream Season’, DVD-9, 1985 – ‘86):
JR: “Well what’s this?”
Pam: “Your lucky day.”
He looks through it.
JR: “This is a proposal, to sell Christopher’s 30% of Ewing Oil.”
Pam: “That’s right.”
JR: “To me?”
Pam: “Right again!”
JR: “I don’t understand.”
Pam: “It’s very simple.”
JR: “I don’t mean this. I don’t understand you.”
Pam: “I want out.”
JR smiles at her and says, “For a fortune?”
Pam goes to take the proposal off him, while replying, “If it’s too rich for you.”
JR: “No no…I didn’t say that. It’ll just take me a little time to pull together the right financing.”
Pam says, “You got it” and goes to walk out of the office.
JR: “Pam!”
She turns around to him.
JR: “Why after all this time? After all you’ve fought for?”
Pam: “The fight just not important any more.”
Pam smiles while saying, “goodnight JR!”
JR is very happy and heads out of the office, with his Stetson in hand.
He stops at Jock’s portrait and glances at the prominent figure, stating, “Well daddy it’s taken a long time and a lot of hard work but finally its all mine!”
JR gives us that infamous smile.
The frame freezes; fade to black, the closing credits and the theme tune commences.

Knots Landing Motors - Knots Landing
Background gazing makes this a fun business. I keep marvelling at the posters on the walls for the '81 Escort and whatnot. KLM felt very representative of what Knots was at that point - personal, cosy, relatable and prosaic.
Lotus Point - Knots Landing
Following on from KLM, Lotus Point's broader, resplendent landscapes as a backdrop for power dressed quips and the kind of arguments only family and close friends can have make it tonally perfect for Knots's middle years.
The Falcon Crest Winery - Falcon Crest
Even I - someone who has only had a couple of glimpses of the series - know how fundamental this is to the show and its characters' motivations.
Ewing Oil - Dallas
There's something endearingly down-home and unpretentious about Ewing Oil's offices. Not to mention charmingly claustrophobic. Part of me yearns to follow in Katherine's footsteps and take that strange-but-iconic u-shaped walk from the lifts, past reception, the secretaries and JR towards Bobby's office.
Colbyco - Dynasty
Particularly for the sinister promise it held under Cecil's reign, what with his archness and alter egos. Throw in Alexis and a glass desk with tusks and... Well, it had sinister promise under Cecil's reign.

Therefore it only makes sense that our second favourite company is...
Falcon Crest Winery (37 points)
Undoubtedly the most beautiful company, but what goes on behind those doors is anything but beautiful.
Knots Landing's eco-resort Lotus Point at #3 with 31 points.

It's a very unfortunate tie for the #4 spot:
Denver-Carrington and ColbyCo Oil, both 12 points.
