Don't you guys find that there are some actors who tend to always be in good series & films?
Is it luck? Or do they choose wisely? Or is it all their stuff isn't good - just that it feels like it?

Which actors do you feel are always in good productions? (Both TV series and films apply to this question).

Three actresses that comes to mind for me are Elisabeth Moss, Gwendoline Christie and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Elisabeth Moss has done Mad Men, Top of the Lake, The Square, Girl Interrupted and Handmaid's Tale.
Gwendoline Christie has done Game of Thrones, Absolutely Fabulous, Top of the Lake, Hunger Games and Star Wars.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus has done Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, New Adventures of old Christine, Veep, Deconstructing Harry and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

My first exposure to Julia Louis-Dreyfus was her tenure as a cast member of Saturday Night Live. I don't recall a single sketch she was in, or a character she created/played during that tenure...but I can say she was there. Perhaps sketch comedy just isn't her "thing", or maybe it was just all the other 'stars' sucking the oxygen out of the room, but that wasn't a successful job for her. She moved on to much better things. Oh, and she met and married her husband there, who was a fellow cast member.

I'm not an avid follower of hers, but Julianne Moore seems to have a great track record of picking good projects.

Some stars just have really good "taste" in choosing jobs, or at least know their limitations. Some have really good agents or people working for them who advise them on such matters. And of course there are some producers and/or backers of productions who pick these actors to offer roles to (rather than the other way around). If a writer creates a role with a certain actor in mind--and later gets the actor to play it--there's a higher chance of it being a successful collaboration.
