Anna Rossini the sister of Johann Riebmann?

The Rossini family featured in the middle era and imho were relevant to the history, as Michael Channing's mother was Cassandra. Fr. Chris was the son of Dominic, who died in a house fire and his mother was central character Julia Channing Cumson. I believe Granny Rossini (cartoon villain Anna) should have been tied to the main plot of season 4, as the Rossinis came into the show after one of FC's most fascinating plots received an early 'deadner'. Yes she should have been Johann Riebmann's sister (Gustav aka Jean-Louis de Bercy's aunt). More mileage for the ruthless cartel perhaps; in a low key way, at least initially?

I often think it's a mistake when writers introduce new characters that we are supposed to believe have a long history with the main characters when they could just as easily recycle and existing character or make them have a strong connection with of someone previously in the series. Had Anna been related to Riebmann, it would have provided some continuity to the Nazi treasure storyline and the Rossinis would have looked less like a hastily written add on to the end of the previous season.

To be fair, I think CBS wanted them to nix everything about the nazi storyline and probably wouldn't have allowed them to write in any continuation of it.

It hasn't been long since I've re-watched the Rossini story and what amazes me is that I couldn't remember the exit scene for any of the three family members (Cassandra, Damon, Anna) and even now that I've watched it again, I didn't get that this is the final scene and it wasn't until the next episode that I realized the character had actually left the show.

A sister of Johan would have been kicked out by Angela de Tuscany.
Ana was not the niece of a rich or powerful man. In my opinion it doesn't make sense

Converting Anna Rossii is stupid, invalidating her as a rival to Angela

Anna Rossini would still have been a credible Angela rival, probably even more so had she been Johann's sister. Since the Nazi cartel treasure and gold plot was axed early I think I would have let the Rossini story unfold as it did but let the cartel die as had happened. So linking Celeste's character more to Riebmann and the Perrault woman would have been the way to go.

Agree, and while I understand why they scrapped the Nazi storyline, they could've done that without going too deep into their shared past. I liked the Rossini family and think they could've done more with Anna and Damon. Cass stayed a bit too long where it was obvious the writers had no plan for her and Richard as a couple, that fell faster flat than Richard and Terry (but without Terry's sarcastic humour). But the introduction of the Rossini family was a highlight, one of the best with new characters in a soap.

Ana Archer was wonderful as the devoted wife of Michael Duglas
But not like bitchy it didn't work. Incredibly she was going to marry Richard and she was going to be all season
Luckily she left the series in episode 9. And we had the great couple Richard Terry

Anna looked rather sinister in her black gown and I always thought she could've hit out with that black cane. A memorable character, for sure.

It took me four decades to realize that Johan Riebmann and the Bishop of Moldavia are the same, I mean, played by the same actor, John van Dreelen. It didn't even happen during a rewatch of Falcon Crest or Dynasty, but rather when I saw a 1972 episode of Hamburg Transit (a German series in the Hamburg franchise, which runs since 1963) in which he played a Dutch businessman/criminal. It quickly became clear to me that I knew John van Dreelen, but was looking for a connection in German series, so I was all the more surprised when I read his credits online and had never realized that he had two small, but memorable roles in Falcon Crest and Dynasty. I found the scene where Steven lay in the bishop's lap after the massacre very interesting, so to speak, that the sinner seeks the proximity of the saint in the hour of death.

Was it just two episodes John acted as Johann. What a coincidence that him and Anna both walked with canes. They could've have been family, after all.
