Most definitely. I do agree. The lotus point days were hidious.

Travilla didn't ever quite grasp the concept of dressing the characters according to their personality. You've failed as a costumer when it is perfectly clear that the character did not pick out what they are wearing, so to speak. Karen's LP outfits (as well as the dressier things she wore to parties, etc.) looked like they were wearing HER, rather than the other way around.

I don't remember what she wore but I remember thinking that Jane Sumner always looked very classy and rich. Old-money-rich.

When Claudia first arrived, they established that she was an anthropology professor. I liked that the costumers took this into account by having her wardrobe often accented with exotic geometrics or animal prints, as well as "chunky" necklaces. As she got more involved in the Sumner Group they didn't emphasize this as much in her clothing and jewelry, though her house was still furnished in that way, with collected pieces from her (supposed) movements around the world.

I am on season 4. I love the outfits that Abby, Val are wearing. Love the high boots with jeans and the big shirts with the belt. Actually thar style is back today.
