The one which stands out for me is Models Inc., starring Linda Gray from Dallas. It was just beginning to find traction in Australia when it was cancelled. It probably helped it had an Aussie in there named Cameron Daddo.
Kylie Travis is Australian, too, or not? She was on Neighbours before entering Hollywood: First Models Inc, followed by Central Park West, then she was gone. I think she could have made it on American daytime, but she didn't try - or they didn't want her.

I think you're confusing Kylie Travis with Kimberly Davies, who went from Neighbours to Pacific Palisades. To my knowledge, Travis never did any Aussie soaps.

Kylie didn't do much after Central Park West although I remember seeing her in the HBO film Gia alongside Angelina Jolie. She would've been a natural addition to Melrose Place. Anyway, she married a millionaire property tycoon in the early 00's and hasn't acted since.

I've loved Kimberly Davies much more than Kylie Travis, but I had always thought Kylie had been on Neighbours - maybe because anybody had been there...

I was, at the time, deeply disappointed by the cancellation of DARK SHADOWS (1991), so much so that I pretty much boycotted watching any new network TV series fo years.

I'll second the loss of BOSS (2011), a very enjoyable political melodrama that I enjoyed even more than the early seasons of HOUSE OF CARDS (which came along right after). Kelsey Grammer hasn't had much post-FRASIER success with series. I also enjoyed his sitcom BACK TO YOU (2007), but it didn't last a full season.

From 2007, I also liked SAMANTHA WHO? with Christina Applegate, but that one only lasted 2 seasons. After that, I pretty much stopped watching sitcoms; my track record of picking them was even worse than prematurely cancelled soaps.

I would have to throw Moonlighting into the conversation. Only had a 5 season run and I for one would’ve liked to have seen it continue. I guess that might’ve been a little tough with Bruce Willis’s movie schedule by 1989. And I can’t see a recast working in this case

How very "Rachel" of her.

I liked her RETROACTIVE movie.

I feel I ought to try a sitcom sometime, I haven't watched any since original Will & Grace, I think.
But how do I find the one that's really really funny? I've tried The Ranch and Grace & Frankie but it didn't make me laugh.

A Fine Romance (U.S. title, Ticket To Ride elsewhere to distinguish it from the Judy Dench series). It starred Christopher Cazenove and Margaret Whitton as a divorced couple who host a travel series; it was filmed on location throughout Europe. Ernie Sabella (Pumbaa in The Lion King) costarred. The show felt like a 30s/40s Hollywood romantic comedy, often with mystery elements mixed in, with Cazenove as the Cary Grant character and Whitton in the Katharine Hepburn role. Its debut was delayed by a strike by the Writers Guild of America; when it eventually did air it was opposite The Cosby Show so it tanked in the ratings. Twelve episodes were filmed but only five were broadcast. I would love to see a DVD release.

I found the first episode posted online:

I'm glad I'm not alone Willie. The Ranch is lost on me. Grace & Frankie should be high on my list. I mean just look at the cast but it fails to get a laugh from me.

I remember A Fine Romance, and that Anthony Andrews played the male lead in the pilot and then quit. Our local TV critic didn’t think the show was as good after the recasting.

But Sable & Frankie is really funny.

Before True Blood, Carnivale and AHS there was American Gothic

Apparently, it was supposed to be more than two seasons and of course there were many more stories to tell.
Such a shame.

I've had The Son season 2 on my DVR for some time but only now gotten around to watching it.
They seem to have tried to bring it to a conclusion with some major developments occurring in the final episode but I was left with the feeling that some chunks of the timeline had been left out.
A visit to Wikipedia confirmed that the missing history was in fact included in the novel, so a third season filling in those blanks would have been appreciated.

While I think the last section of Models Inc was an improvement, it was never going to find any stability as long as both Frank South and Chuck Pratt were in charge of it. On the other hand, they might've not been promoted on Melrose after Darren Star left, so maybe it would've been for the best if it stayed on air for a while longer...
