Carol Channing Has Died

[Angela Channing]

Broadway star and film actress Carol Channing has died aged 97.

She was best known for starring on stage in the musicals Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Hello Dolly.

Although much of her career was spent on Broadway, she won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance as Muzzy Van Hossmere in the 1967 film Thoroughly Modern Millie.

I hadn't heard about this. As primarily a Broadway star I guess she wasn't that well known in Australia but through her TV variety show appearances and stints on The Love Boat I thought she would be better remembered.
