Our world is changing. I see so may people who are just about themselves. Whether it's on the roads, in the streets or at the cinema. People are all about themselves and unaware of their surroundings. It infuriates me. It's not just when there is silence @Willie Oleson - it would be in the middle of a conversation, at dinner, at the movies.

We went to put petrol in the car last week, we went to the 'pay at the pump' and was waiting for this guy in a truck.![]()
It all got a bit weird. Once he finished filling up the car he went and sat in the driving seat. We could see he was on the phone and we waited and waited. Once he finished his phone call, he then got out and went inside to pay. There were four other lanes for those who want to pay inside, but obviously he just chose this one because it was the closest one on entry.
All this happened while we were waiting patiently to fill our car and I suspect he never knew we were behind him.
On two other occasions this past month I have been driving when the traffic came to a stand still. Slowly the cars in front of me were moving and it wasn't until I got to the car that was holding up the traffic when I saw the driver was on the phone. It came to me that because we are not allowed to use our phone when we are driving, people are actually stopping in the road to take a call if their phone rings.
Oh I'd have had the horn going. That's me in the car. Never far away from the horn.
I probably told you this
What a shame, I had this cool warrior outfit ready for you.because I'm too lazy to fight alien invasions
Is it okay if I only check my phone after I hear a notification sound effect from it? (And I turn that feature off in public, unlike a couple of idiots at school I've seen).![]()
Oh I wish this was done by most people. My best friend is OBSESSED with checking his phone, and it has led to me nearly losing my cool on more than one occasion. So many people miss what is right in front of them because of this.
Sir, you are my hero. I can't stand those idiots I go to school with who can't even walk down the halls between classes without gazing at their phone and frantically texting at the same time. And don't even get me started on the morons who leave the volumes on their phones on during class! I'm sick of hearing notification sounds and Siri randomly asking "Are you still there?" from all of these phones while I'm trying to listen to a lecture. And I feel even sorrier for the poor professors who have repeatedly asked students to either turn off their phones or turn off the volume, and to stop texting during the lectures! It's pretty insulting to a professor when someone is blatantly and openly ignoring them while they text away or use the internet for non-school stuff. I practically cheered when this one professor I had told a jerk that she was taking points off of his grade after he played with his phone in front of her one too many times.Don't get me started on those walking on a footpath with their noses in their phones. Apparently every non smartphone person has to politely step out of their way, not me. On some occasions I refuse to move left or right and allow them to bump into me. More often then not their phone has ejected from their hand and smashed onto the footpath. I continue to walk without stopping. One day a young lady, head down, eyeballing her phone not once looked up while everyone else was moving around her. I could see her coming and refused to budge. Bam, straight into me. Her lovely iphone shattering after hitting the pavement. She then wanted to have a go at me. "Excuse me? I believe your the one at fault here. Accept the fact your stupidity is to blame here. Have a nice day."![]()
That is what my aunt and her kids do when they come to visit us. They have to use the phones at the restaurant, and they have to use them again when we get home and show us about a million more pictures of themselves. And the worst part is that when my mom actually tries to text them, nine times out of ten, they can't even frickin' respond to her! Pretty strange for people who live on the phone! I don't even bother trying to communicate with these so-called family members of mine and am excited for them to hurry up and move to Florida this summer so that they can stop pretending that they care about us and expecting us to take hour long drives to their house to take care of their butt-ugly dogs and clean their house while they go on more stupid cruises! It's not uncommon for me to walk into a restaurant and see a family (group of four or more) seated at a table, all on separate phones and under seeming hypnosis. "All worship the mighty electronic God," I say to myself sarcastically.
Remember the episode of Doctor Who where The Master was putting all of Planet Earth under his mind control via cellular phone signals? That scenario has totally warped my mind, because I fully expect to look up one day to see every single person around me all staring blankly at their phones, leaving me as the last person to battle the invasion. We'd be doomed, because I'm too lazy to fight alien invasions.
There's even a term for this: Phubbing. Basically it means "ignoring your friends by staring at/playing with your phone". (Phone-snubbing?)
