I dont know him , never watched Friends but I think its awful that people are named and shamed and fired without the facts being known and I think its awful how Mens careers have been ruined by allegations which have proved to be false, lies and made up
eg
Actors from Corrie, people will still think no smoke without fire! Cliff Richard, Paul Gambuccini - who have all been found Innocent but their careers will never be the same again

Im also suspicious of people coming out of the woodwork just as a new series is airing and as @CeeCee72 - says why didnt they do it a few years ago when Weinstein and Me too was hitting the headlines,

If he has perpetrated the offences then yes its awful and should be punished for it but right now, its allegations - one word against another and yes some woman do lie!

I was the victim of a sexual assault by a person in the entertainment business here. It was true and it happened to 13 of us. It started in the mid nineties and he was only tried and convicted in 2017. This creep raped, molested, drugged, bullied and harrassed 13 young actresses and maybe more that haven't come forward.

It's a man's world sadly and the entertainment business is scary. Women need to be heard and I'm sorry but they don't come forward without good reason. I know there is a bad penny once in a while, but it took the 13 of us nearly 20 years to get even a tiny bit of justice and it isn't over yet.

Sadly a lot of the issues lie with actresses being too afraid to come forward because our careers mean that much to us and back then, we were worried we wouldn't be believed.

I think it's sad that so many immidiately start to discredit the women and ask why it took so long etc. Who wants to come forward knowing that so many will call you a liar in media and online? Especially when it comes to such deeply personal and sensitive issues and when you sometimes think you had it coming or was at fault somehow. Why do battered people not leave the relationship? Or even tell anyone? Why do they feel ashamed and try to hide the wounds? It's much too easy to judge it as black or white. For me, it took 30 years to tell my parents what happened when I was 7. And I think I am a strong independant woman, but I still wonder if I did something to let it happen even though logic tells me a 13 year old had no business forcing himself on a 7 year old. I can only talk about this anonymously with people who don't know me irl. I'm still too embarrassed and ashamed to discuss it with people I know.

I can't say if Noth is guilty or not, I wasn't there. But I won't immidiately go to a discrediting of women in general stand-point like way too many people do. I don't even think people should be open with what they believe in specific sexual offence cases. Just read what's been stated and not say out loud if you thinks it's true or not. We don't know the accused or the accusers, never met them. So unless there is strong evidence, just don't comment on which side you're on. That is what really spoils reputations, when you get thousands of people against you, orally or in writing.

As of now, I won't add such news on TT or any other place because the discussion always goes there.

I am also the survivor of a sexual assault. I came forward immediately and the police made my life a living hell.

I understand why women don't report immediately. These allegations should be taken seriously.

At the same time though, we can't judge the man guilty based on unsubstantiated allegations.

True, but then why did you write about how suspicious it is that the women waited so long in your first paragraph? It sounded very much like discredit, in my opinion at least.

It's happened to me twice actually - the first time was verbal in the form of harrassment phonecalls and when I discovered (at the age of 17) that the man was a police officer, I was told by a senior male police officer that 'you do realise dear (f off) that he could lose his job?'

1stly i 100% agree that any women who have had this done should be listened to and they do deserve to get justice if what they say is actually true. i just mean that there's a percentage out there who lie about it for attention/money and that in turn hurts the future victims who really did have this done to them.

i am having a hard time Believing Noth did any of this but than i have no proof saying he didn't it and i do agree why didn't they come out sooner? i'm mad at CBS for firing him but i do get that they are saving face. they would get a shit ton of backlash if they hadn't fired him and so i can't say that i blame him. i'm hoping it turns out he was innocent in this but if he wasn't the victims do deserve justice. i was talking to my mom about this and she said well Money yes she's right no doubt but like i said they are being truthful they do deserve their day in court and they do deserve Justice

...and I would prefer if those investigations are carried out by the appropriate authorities, the police. If there is a case to be answered for then the courts is the appropriate place for a case to proceed. I'm sick and tired of people using the media to air allegations. One of these allegations stems from 2004, that's 17 years ago. How is this to be proved without evidence because inevitably if it goes to court it will be a matter of he said/she said and in the end someone is lying under oath.

I had nothing against Chris Noth. I've enjoyed him on SATC and The Good Wife. Still don't know what he's guilty and innocent of. But this is getting more convincing, especially with these 3 latest articles. I will not play judge, but I can't help but feeling differently about him. It's sad to me. But just like with Kevin Spacey, I feel their old characters getting tainted.

Agree that the more that comes out, the worse it looks for him.

I never was a huge fan of his although I did enjoy him as Mike Logan in the L&O franchise.

Mike Logan for me is my favorite Character of his and it always will be, i do hope that it's just talk but if it isn't i'm not gonna stop watching this tv shows or films etc.. anything he's done just cause he's a piece of shit. but as for right now nothing has been proven at least that has been told to the public, now if the cops are saying it is true and have proof that's different. but they can't talk about it anyways since it's an ongoing case

It's good that in this event everyone has been named.

My overarching concern is that every year countless false accusation are made and the accusers are awarded anonymity while the person the finger is being pointed is named. Be they famous or not.

I prefer it that the accuser and the accused stayed anonymous until a guilty verdict in court. But some tabloids these days have absolutely no scruples. They will publish names and even make up stories that they fully well know are false.

Then there are people online who dig and dig until they find out the identity of the news only call "TV celebrity" or "moviestar" etc. And then they spread the word. In Sweden, we have a huge message board called Flashback. Everybody knows if they want more info on who has been arrested or fired, may it be ordinary civilians or celebs, they can just go to Flashback and find out. If someone is arrested for knifing their partner, his or her identity will sooner or later be on Flashback. It also has a celebrity gossip section where members reveal what they know or have heard/seen about celebrities. It can be as simple as "I saw him at the local grocery store where he complained about old people standing in his way. He obviously thinks much of himself."

So even if mainstreem media tries to keep the identities a secret, it will come out anyway now that all people can publically publish anything they like.

there are plenty of women out there that do it for the fame and the money but not everyone is like that and when they are that i think hurts the as i said before the true victims but they don't care. having said that i dunno if these women are liars or not to be fair i prefer to think they are but than i have no proof they are and i have no proof they aren't as i'm not involved in the case Obviously so i try and give them the benefit of the doubt until it's been proven that either they are full of it or if they are being honest
