Dallas Actors Christopher Atkins on Long Island Medium

Remember the character on "Dallas", Peter Richards (played by Christopher Atkins)? You know, John Ross' camp counselor that Sue Ellen ended up having an affair with?

I just watched an old episode of the TLC show, "Long Island Medium" that Christopher Atkins was on. In some ways, he still looks like a rather young man! p.

I never liked Peter's romance with Sue Ellen on "Dallas", but I loved Christopher in "The Blue Lagoon" and "The Pirate Movie". The age cap between Linda Gray and Christopher Atkins on "Dallas" was just too big, IMHO.

Christopher did come across as a very nice and well-spoken man! :yep: I think that I'd be able to "accept" a romance between Sue Ellen and Peter, if they'd met later in life! Chris still looks like a

Christopher appeared on an Australian TV morning show some time ago and I happened to catch it. He spoke really well, shared some thoughts on his career (though I don't recall Dallas coming up) and had some laughs with the ladies on set. His demeanor was not that far removed from his character of Peter. On a recent re-watch of Lorimar Dallas I have warmed to the story of Sue Ellen and Peter. I know most posters here and viewers (when first screened) had major problems with the story. Perhaps it was too ahead of its time, the cougar story that is. But I do get where Peter was coming from. We're both of similar age so I understand his attraction - at the time - to an older woman. It's a guy thing which is hard to explain to women. But let me tell you if someone like Sue Ellen had flirted with me at that age then all bets are off.

I lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvved that storyline, simply to see JR SEETHING with jealousy ;)
I always thought that it was pretty pathetic that JR was jealous of a guy who was young enough to be his son. But I guess that can happen more easily when your parents treat you like his did growing up.

I understand your position, @Rove! I know several men who has this "thing" for women who are older than them! :wink@

Personally, I've been pursued a couple of times by men who were 10-15 years younger than me! But I had a hard time coming to terms with it! Perhaps because I was too insecure about the whole thing??? And probably because I somehow knew that there most likely wasn't a future in such a relationship!!! ;)

I was actually pleased to see that JR actually had feelings! :D It's just sad that it took something like this for JR to understand that Sue Ellen was an attractive woman and that she had to look elsewhere to get the love and attention that she wasn't getting from her husband! :(

Many don't. Linda Gray for example doesn't put a label on age. I just can't relate to younger men at all in a romantic way. Not yet anyway.

The age gap between Linda and Christopher is 21 years. That's not a lot. The current president of France's wife is not even 40 and his wife is 64. I don't think it was an unrealistic storyline.

CHUCKLE Brother Jimmy Patton has tied the knot with his sweetheart despite a 59 YEAR age gap – and was still going strong on the dance floor after midnight.

Jimmy, 85, a regular with comedy duo Barry and Paul Chuckle – popped the question to 26-year-old Amy Phillips in September 2015.

I don't find anything attractive about younger men - I just don't get it. Maybe I'm just not 'there' yet.
I agree, @Sarah! Generally, I don't find younger men attractive either! But often I think it's because he and I have been in different "places" in our lives. I find a man with plenty of intelligence, humor, and a mature attitude towards life much more interesting! :D

21 years is not a lot??? :eck: I think that it's huge! If I dated a guy that much younger, I could be his mother!!! :mo: And that's a big turn-off for me, anyway! :innocent:

For the record, I don't have a problem with others being with someone older or younger than themselves (except - of course - Sue Ellen, because I thought that she could do so much better than Peter ;))!

Such a horrible storyline (like the rest of the double digit seasons)! JR could be her grandfather! Ewwww ... :brick:

Notice just how unhappy JR looks! :( There's no light shining in his eyes ... like you would think that a groom would have on his wedding day! (And I think that such a demeanor was a part of Larry's script)! ;)

I'll never forget that scene between Sue Ellen and Christopher at Southfork, speaking about the loss of the baby when suddenly the camera pans up and there is a menacing JR. The expression on his face upon learning he may not have been the father of that child was telling. Up until this point he was having fun sticking it to Cliff but when the realization of Sue Ellen and Christopher had made love you knew the sh!t had hit the fan.

Let's not forget this nightmare:
They say "a picture paints a thousand words". In this case a thesis could be written just on that one shot. I'll admit by this stage in Lorimar Dallas I had tuned out. How the hell did the writers/producers/actors believe this was Dallas? The magic had gone. JR looks comatose. John Ross appears to be standing on Cally's train and getting pleasure out of it. Sue Ellen looks ready to hit the bottle simply to celebrate the fact she has had the last laugh on JR. And Cliff appears to have fallen asleep.

That's because the lady in the yellow is his real love
