But not retrieved from a tittle-tattle fireplace. The Letters in this movie temporarily disappeared because of a plane crash!
It's sort of Love Boat meets Tales Of The So-So Unexpected.
I found it strangely compelling but maybe it's more about the vibe of it. If you get that right then it doesn't have to be very convoluted.

And I think it shows that Dynasty could have happened 10 years earlier - and then we'd have 19 seasons!
Or 12 years earlier, as per @Richard Channing's DYNASTY '69. Where are you Richard, please come back.

I vaguely remember stumbling on this as a kid. It was a proper made-for-TV film. I really liked it (I think).

Hey Willie :hi:

I wasn't feeling well for a while so was laying low, but I'm back in action now.

I watched The Letters and would have liked to have used some of it in Dynasty 69, especially Barbara Stanwyck in that beautiful gown and fur in the piano scene, but the picture quality wasn't great so I couldn't use it. I did use some audio for Blake though.

Anyway, I quite enjoyed these little stories and as you say there is just something about that early 70's vibe that's very enjoyable.

Another weird tie-in - it was written by Ellis Marcus, who later write on Knots Landing, Falcon Crest and Flamingo Road. His wife Ann is probably even more well-known to soap opera fans, famous for being a writer on Peyton Place, Mary Hartman Mary Hartman and taking over the last season and a half of Knots Landing. Ann also wrote the sequel to The Letters called Letters from Three Lovers. Letters from Three Lovers starred Juliet Mills who would play Rosalind Bedford for two episodes and marry Maxwell Caulfield.
