Yes, but this was happening because sex-pest Ray Crosby was doing it to get her into bed.
She really has turned into a beautiful young woman. Ray is such a creep. Maybe we could have Phelan come back and smash him up a bit.

Ray is such a creep.
They really hammed up his creepiness when he stood there in his dressing gown as he played Faye like a fiddle. I hope he gets a bigger comeuppance than that other sleaze bag who groomed Bethany

The trial scenes were not done too badly and kept you on tenterhooks for poor Yasmeen. Oliver’s memorial service was sad. Just shows how it can be when the storylines and writing are good :)

Fantastic scenes in court with a truly deserving result

Cringey scenes outside with the “we shall not be moved” and it’s a shame we’re getting something similar to the 40th.

Anyone else find the 60 years doc a complete let-down?

Same old ground that gets covered in every flipping retrospective show, same old pining nostalgia, same old shitty talking head format, same scenes with scene a million times. A complete lack of early shows characters, completely mixed up chronologically. Completely bloody dreadful.

i watched half an hour then went for a bath! I will catch up later but did enjoy some of the clips

I was hoping for the AA scene with Blanche to be shown. It was hilarious. Also, not much of Elsie Tanner. It was strangely put together I felt. However, Yasmeen’s verdict had me punching the air- finally! :)

I watch this at least twice a year, some of the best comedy writing and acting on any TV show

and i accidently stumbled on the wroong Corrie street programme last night and came across the little gem with Ian McKellan

With the way it's going, it's hard to imagine Corrie still being around for it's 70th year. I've enjoyed the court scenes and want someone to murder Geoff - like a JR Ewing type special where Phelan comes back or something and says 'Missed me?', then hits him over the head with a frying pan. Not that JR would need a frying pan, but you get my drift.

As long as it still tops rating leaderboards most weeks it will be around as long as terrestrial telly remains.

Is it still though? I'd be surprised. I do like it a lot but not lately.

With the exception of absolute ratings behemoths and prime time dramas, yes.

23 Nov week - 5 episodes in Top 15 - Beaten by SCD, IAC and GBBO*
16 Nov Week - 3 episodes in Top 15 - Beaten by SCD, IAC and GBBO*
09 Nov Week - 4 episodes in Top 15 - Beaten by SCD, IAC and GBBO
02 Nov Week - 6 episodes in Top 15 - Beaten by SCD and GBBO* (and more bizarrely narrowly beat by Countryfile)

*These are programmes that rate double most other TV shows.
**Beat meaning outrated highest Corrie rating.

The only time ITV will start worrying about Corrie's long term future is if it's not getting a few episodes piling onto the weekly leader boards (now a Top 15)

When it was only being shown 3 times a week, it was absolutely dominating the ratings and between 1.5m and 2.0m up on it's current figures of 6m - 7m, and if I was ITV I'd be looking at what content I could be commissioning to go in the 8.30pm slot and dialling back to one episodes of Corrie at 7.30pm three times a week. But we all know they won't be doing that.

Thanks for the info! That is interesting. I guess a lot of people will continue to watch regardless as is really is part of the furniture.

I meant to say I was so happy when Rita appeared!! I shouted 'Rita!' all over the living room.

It's habitual for many viewing for many of course. It's clear quite a few people have giving up the habit though.

Most interested to see if it can top 8m tonight (on 7 days). Yasmeen and Geoff's showdown in lockdown got just under 8m, so seems feasible (although that was in lockdown.)

I suppose age breakdowns (which aren't easily available) would be the many place to look for long term viability.

Seems slightly insane that 10 years ago for the 50th 14.9m people were watching. (although that was the most watched episode for 7 years).
