Just thinking, if Alex Ferguson hadn't have achieved the success he had as manager of Manchester United, could he have ever been the manager of Glasgow Rangers or the Scotland National football team and winning the European Cup/World Cup? I mean, Alex Ferguson could've been similar to Kenny Dalglish or Ally McCoist both as as a manager and player.

Fergie was undoubtably a great manager but he was helped at Manchester United by having a large budget to work with which enabled him to buy the top players. At another club or national team, with more limited resources, he might have struggled to achieve the success he had at Man United.

Alex Ferguson won the European Cup with Aberdeen in the 1980s I think a small team and not huge amounts of money to spend on players

Fergie played for Rangers I beleieve in the 60s and he also managed Scotland for a short time after the death of Jock Stein (who collapsed and died at a Scotland game)

Man U have never been the same since he retired and you wont see the likes of Fergie and Arsne Wenger reigning so long at one club
