John Ross talks with Lucy in the living room. "I'll agree to Chris as Chairman. And I'll even concede to Sechin on the board but not CEO. I spoke to Long Dia. He's willing to fill in as interim for now. You know Dia, right?"
"I do. Are you sure he's the right person for the job?"
"I'm not sure of anything, certainly not how to run CalcoHarwood; it's like trying hog tie Goliath. I don't have a clue anymore then you do."
Pamela walks in asking, "Are we talking business?"
"Just a quick check on what Lucy thinks of Long Dia to run CalcoHarwood until we find the right person."
"The question you should be asking is can you trust him?" Pamela takes her sofa water from John Ross.
Lucy asks, "Can we?"
"I don't know."
"Then find someone else."
Emily comes in next. "Have any of you heard from Lucas? He won't return my calls."
Lucy tells her, "I spoke to his sister and she's been in touch with him. He's fine she says but won't say anything else."
"Can I get her number to talk to her myself?"
Chris enters asking, "Why? He's a big boy. What do you care?"
"He's hurt. He left me a message. He sounded . . ."
"Like what! So he found out his father isn't his blood. Get over it. Uncle Ray is a good father to him. He's got two sisters. A mom and a dad. Now he's got his family ranch. What more does he want out of life?"
"I'm sure it just came as a shock to him," Pamela says.
"Well he should just grow up like the rest of us." Chris takes a bourbon and branch from John Ross.
Lucas stands on the porch of a comfortable bric house in a subdivision. He double checks the address on the building with thatva a sheet of paper in his hand. An older man opens the door. "Mr. Dodd?"
"You must be Lucas Krebs. Come in. Your Uncle JR has a lot to explain to you."
A beautifully decorated tent fills up out behind South Fork as women arrive barring gifts. Lucy greets each one with a warm hug and her cheerful laught. "Jenna. Charlie. Welcome back to South Fork. I'm so glad you could make it. It's been way to long."
"Thank you for inviting us. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone."
"Well Sue Ellen's in there and so's my mother and sister. Oh and John Ross's sister. You haven't meet her. Amanda Harwood." Marilee Stone walks up next. Lucy welcomes her and girl next to her and then says, "Jenna, you remember Marilee. And this is her granddaughter Ann Lee. You remember Jordan Lee? She's his grandaughter as well. Marilee's daughter married his son. Speaking of which, where is Claudette?"
"Oh she's on her way. She stopped at the house to say hi to John Ross. They use to see each other, a long time ago."
Inside the tent Sue Ellen walks up to Lucy in a crowd of nearly three hundred. "Who are all these people? My lord Lucy"
"Well Emily has a lot of friends. And you know the Wendell's, her mom, sisters, sisters-in-law, stepsisters, cousins. She's in the DoA with me and they're all here. Amy." Lucy beckons over a beautiful young girl. "Amy Anderson. You remember my Aunt Sue Ellen?"
"Yes of course. JR's wife."
"If you'll excuse me Sue Ellen. I have a mission to carry out." Lucy takes Amy by the arm. "Now there's no point in resisting."
Lucy and Amy climb a set of stairs on the out outside of a barn as Lucy said, "Any way I never did anything my Uncle JR said to do, but I'll give him this one."
"What one?"
"That you and Lucas would make a great couple."
"Of Lucy. Every summer her was at South Fork and I'd come over, he'd just ignore me."
"Trust me he won't now."
Inside the upper floor of the barn is an enormous room with a bar, pool tables and a large and ruckus gathering of men. Lucy walks up to Lucas and says, "Look who I found."
In the tent Afton sits with Sally and Pamela pretty much watching everything. Sally says, "Why don't you go mingle some Pamela?"
"I'm ok Aunt Sally. These people are all really her for Lucy or Emily."
"That's not true, sweetheart," Afton attempts to reassure her daughter with her hand on her knee.
Sue Ellen approaches. "Time to open your gifts."
Pamela reluctantly goes with Sue Ellen to the center of the gathering where she joins a gleeful Emily.
Donna incouages her, hugging her, "You look positively radiant."
"Thank you."
Out by the horses Lucas takes a walk with Amy. "I never ignored you. I just. Well you were always flurting with John Ross or Christopher."
"No I wasn't."
"Yes you were. John Ross took a bit of warming up but once he realized what it meant to be John Ross he couldn't beat the ladies away. And Chris, he always had a way with you all."
"And you?"
"The homely four eyed git with the funny accent."
"Well you're far from homely now. You've got the Ewing presence. What are you, six four?"
"Six two."
"And what happened to your glasses and accent."
"Eye surgery and just been in the states long enough I guess. Not so prounced."
She holds tight to his arm.
In the tent Pamela and Emily take turns opening gifts and the crowd cheering.
John Ross clasps in to David's shoulder saying, "Welcome to South Fork David. You need a refill?"
"No I'm fine. I was hoping we'd talk a bit of business. Come to a compromise."
"Now you see. Us Ewings, we don't need to compromise with the Wendell's. See how that works. Though I appreciate the idea of Chris playing the mediator. I'll agree with his chairmanship until we get things settled with the company. We're looking at Matta MacLeod."
"Of Allegence Investments?"
"That's the one."
"There aren't many women in the oil business."
"No there aren't. But she'll do. This is all temporary until we can shore up the company."
Mateo wins at pool against Chris.
