At the breakfast table by the pool, John Ross ruffles the news paper, angry at the disgrace he just read. Pamela looks at the article, "Ewing heir celebrates buying the Desert Resort. Sebastian Ewing. Ewing? Sebastian Ewing bought the Desert resort for three hundred and fifty million dollars and promised to turn it into one of the nation's greatest party places." She shows the picture to Lucy.
Lucy says, "Is he naked?"
John Ross utters, "That little bastard!" And walks away.
Lucy shows Emily the paper.
In his study he meets with Chris, looking a bit worse for wear and Mateo. "Why were you at breakfast?"
Chris answers, "A bit hung over old sport."
"And how the hell did Sergi Vaino get the Lee Ranch?"
"Wasn't on my radar. I don't understand why he'd want it. Theres not a drop of oil on Leeward. He's not interested in cattle as far as I know. If he is, this is his first investment. It's pretty pathetic at that. The house is in terrible condition."
"I don't get it."
A construction crew covers the Leeward mansion and vegans a massive undertaking.
April approaches a hung over Sebastian by the resort pool. "You keep throwing parties like this, you'll have this place more famous than Vegas. That was a nice picture of a naked prince on the cover."
"You get me legal gambling and prostitution and I'll make it so."
She rubs his naked torso. "Just remember this is our investment."
"I haven't forgot. Now what about that ranch you were buying?"
"Done. I'm having it remodeled as we speak. They Ewings might have found it easy to discard people in the past but not this time. Leeward will be every bit as grand as Southfork. And we'll control EO. We'll replace them." Her hand moves to his crotch. "No one will forget us."
A Los Angels high rise with a sign by the front door which reads, 'MSB, Inc.,' David and Sergi ride up in an elevator on the side of the building.
Emily has lunch alone with Mateo in the city. She thanks him for seeing to the security for the art donation from the foundation and Lucy. He of course makes it sound like no big deal. They discuss her son, Jeremy. Mateo and John Ross have been teaching the boys to shoot.
David and Sergi walk into an office and Michelle Stevens turns around, welcoming them, assuring them they're ready to mount a shareholder battle to take control of the EO Corporation. Sergi gets the technology he wants, David takes back the chairman's seat and the Ewing's can go away and lick their wounds.
Pamela, Lucy and Emily sit out by the pool going over plans for the week, lunch meetings, DOA meetings, fundraiser meetings, a literary meetings, and advisor board meetings to decide on giving away money this year.
John Ross comes out and kisses Pamela's cheek from behind. "Tomorrow morning, 9 AM, can you block off a couple hours to meet in my study?"
"What for?"
"I want you to join us, Chris and Mateo. We video conference with Liam and Dia. I just thought, if you're not returning to the office."
"Thank you. I'd like that. Where are you headed?"
"To the barn. The boys and I are going for a ride."
She watches him walk toward the barn with a gleam in her eye. Lucy and Emily look at her."
"I remember the first time he meet you," Lucy says, "He called me up and told me all about Cliff Barnes's daughter. I told him his father would have a thousand fits. He said it didn't matter. You liked Chris."
"Did he really?"
"Yeah. It seemed everyone liked Chris back in those days. He's was the nice one."
"What, Chris?" Emily laughs.
"Not me," Lucy adds. "I knew he was every bit the devil John Ross was. More so because he tried to hide it."
John Ross and the older boys ride off. Emily watches them, including her son. Mateo says, "You should have joined them."
"No. They'll have a better time without their mom tagging along."
"You look sad."
"I always look sad to you."
"You know for two people who should be happy, you do a good job at being miserable."
"Yeah well."
"It's a shame really."
"This friendship won't last very long if you're going to start on me."
"This friendship won't last very long regardless. You toss everyone away. It's only a matter of time until you toss Jeremy away. It's what you do. Everyone let's you down. Sooner or later."
"What the hells got into you?"
"Nothing. Just have a hard time watching you hurt people, like that kid."
"Don't worry about my son."
"You really think you can tell me that? I know you too well."
"You don't know a damn thing about me."
"Oh I know a lot more than just what you say to me. It's my job to pay attention. You're two selfish brats and that kid deserves better."
"Mind your own business."
She goes to walk away and he grabs her arm, "Take your meds and I will."
"My what?"
"Don't bull shit me. I'm not your husband. Take your meds. Straighten yourself out."
"How dare you."
"How dare you. I care about you and I'm sick of watching you hurt yourself. And that boy."
She pulls away and walks off.
Chris walks into the Cattleman's club surprised to see John Ross with David Wendell. He sits down. "Not everyday you gonna see this."
"David and I have come to an understanding. He has the votes to mount a coupe, probably enough to get control of the board. He's going to replace you as Chairman."
"What!"
"You and Mateo will stay on the board to keep an eye on things."
"What are you running from a fight?"
"No. I just don't want to see a shareholders fight. That's not go for the company. As for the technology he's after, I've informed him all of that belongs to Lone Star. And, I want you to stay on as V.P. of R and D."
"Work for him?"
"Yes."
"Hell no."
"What? You might want to rethink that."
Christopher studies his cousin, hesitating and then saying, "Alright, but the first chance I'm gonna burry you Wendell."
"There we go. See. We can all get along. Now let's sit. Darlin' three blue South Fork strips. A bourbon and branch and what ever these light weights want to drink."
Pamela watches as ranch hands till up a strip of land. Lucy asks, "What's going on? Barbara said you're putting in a garden."
"I'm changing how we eat. We're going to grow everything we eat from now on. I've got pigs and chickens on their way. John Ross is setting up a field for wheat and getting in dairy cows. This family is going to eat healthy. That's my mission. I've got a set up on the island to ship in fresh seafood. We got citrus here and I'm headed to Central America too look into bananas."
"You are going all out."
"I'm gonna make sure everything we eat is all natural."
"Sounds good."
"Barbara's behind me one hundred percent."
"Oh I'm sure. Me too. But I spent five years in France, married to my third husband. I hope you don't mind a care package now and again from his family."
Pamela laughs, "How many times have you been married?"
"A few. Well quite a few. Ok so I love men."
"And Mitch?"
"Mitch is different."
"How so?"
"He just is."
"You think you'll ever marry again?"
"I don't know. Mitch did ask."
"Why didn't you say so? What did you say?"
"I said yes, but we'll postpone things so long I'm sure it won't come up."
"Lucy! That's terrific news. Aren't you excited?"
"When you been married as often as I have, not really. This would be my third time married to Mitch."
"Third. Dang. I heard JR and Sue Ellen were married twice. And so were Bobby and Pam. No three times, this is there third. And isn't your father married to your mother for the third time?"
"Yes. Ok Ewings like marrying."
"Ewings get obsessed with one person. Everyone else is a bit foolish to get in the way."
"Like John Ross is obsessed with you?"
"Something like that. Though I think it's wearing off. Bo's got a reputation as the Merry Widower of the Senate and Chris is, well what ever that marriage he has is. Your brother and sister seem to be happily married for some time."
"Yea maybe it is. That's a good thing."
"And Mitch. You know you love him."
"Love isn't enough Pamela."
"It always is, if you let it be."
Chris rolls around in a hotel bed with April eventually leading her on top.
John Ross meets in his study with Chris and Mateo. "I'm not worried about David Wendell. He's an idiot. A rubber stamp. He's just Chairman. That's all."
"And I'm," Chris starts to say.
"Virtual President and CEO, along with acting Vice President of R and D."
"But you said . . ."
"I know what I said. You got to know when to pick your battles. The board will keep Roger Wilkins as President. Elevate him to CEO. Roger will know to report directly to you. It's that simple."
"I see. Roger works for you."
"Yes Christopher, he works for us. Our bigger issues are Michelle Stevens and Sergei Vaino. One at a time." He looks at Michelle. "What do you have?"
"We're working on it, but no one builds that kinda fortune with out skeletons."
"Good. Find them. And like my granddaddy use to say, and if you can't find any, put some there."
John Ross sits with Pamela in their room. She's says, "You have to do what you have to do. Don't worry about my April. I don't consider her family anymore than she does me. She's got her own agenda, and if Michelle Stevens can't handle her past, well that's her problem, isn't it?"
FBI agents with a warrant walk into April's office and begins to search the place. When she objects she is aressted and read her rights.
