Dallas Double Weddings

Not 2 couples getting married at the same time but the same couple marrying twice.

First Gary and Valene married, divorced and remarried, then JR and Sue Ellen did it, Lucy married, divorced and remarried Mitch and Bobby and Pam followed the same pattern. Why couldn't they do what they did in Knots Landing with Valene marrying 2 other people before getting back with Gary?

Wouldn't it have been so much more interesting if Pam married Mark and Bobby married Jenna? Then the intrigue would have been how, when and if Bobby and Pam would eventually get back together.

Don't you think it would have been more interesting if Sue Ellen had married someone who was a rival to JR after her divorce from him? She could then use new husband's money and position to attempt to take down JR.

Characters in Dallas never seemed to move and so many of them remarrying there spouses after divorcing them was not realistic.

Much more interesting in my book. For a time in Dallas I really was enjoying the relationship between Pam and Mark. Cliff's bromance with Mark and of course Afton's relationship with Cliff. We suddenly had this unique scenario where the Barnes family was expanding (I'm including Katherine as well) as opposed to the lonely existence the Ewing family was going through at the time. It was enjoyable to watch. I think I recall a scene where even JR mentions something about how empty Southfork is. I believe Miss Ellie was away at the time as well. Without taking anything away from the Ewing family the dynamics of the show had changed and in my opinion for the better. Slowly a secondary powerful family was developing.

The marriage of Pam and Mark should of went ahead as planned. To the annoyance of Katherine, Bobby and Jenna also marry, on the Southfork driveway. It's only after the marriage between Pam and Mark takes place is he told of his illness but it's kept a secret. Rather than run away he should have stayed. We watch a deep bond develop between the two. Katherine so incensed that Bobby married that slut with a child with that awful Italian blurts to Bobby in a drunken stupor, Pam only married Mark because of his condition. The secret is out. Now Bobby feels trapped in a relationship he really didn't wish for....sucker.

As for JR and Sue Ellen? I'm not sure of this one. Their relationship, whether married or divorced was a joy to watch. It's why I watched Dallas. I'll place this one in the to hard basket.

Come on! Why do you want Katherine to be miserable so much!? She lost everyone she cared about, so give her a break. Bobby deserved to die as a miserable bachelor for all of his stupidity and insensitivity, and stopping the dreaded Bobby/Jenna marriage from ever occurring was one of Katherine's finest achievements that showed she is not one to mess with! Pam and Mark could've been interesting, but if anyone should get married to each other here, it's Katherine and JR!

It was ridiculous how the writers tried to make me feel like these couples who remarried were absolutely perfect for each other and that no one should dare to question them when they just ended up divorced and miserable in the end. The Sue Ellen idea sounds like it could have been interesting, provided that she really loved the mystery guy and was committed to the fight and didn't end up just running back to JR like she usually did. It felt like they were sort of setting up this scenario with Dusty since he and Clayton had a lot of power with the Southern Cross ranch and the oil business. But we all know how that turned out. But it would have been even more entertaining if JR had married Katherine and they had both used all of their money to financially destroy and bury everyone, including that annoying do-gooder, Bobby.

Interesting idea but I think the reason that didn't happen was because Patrick was leaving the show at the end of season 8 (DVD). So there was no time for Bobby to get married to Jenna since they wanted to reunite Bobby and Pam, the show's Romeo and Juliet and then let him die a tragic death in Swan Song.

Then as for Val and Gary. I agree that having them marry Abby and Ben worked for the story. But by the time she married Danny I really think it would have been better if she and Gary would have just gotten back together already since at that point they had dragged out them being apart too much.

Good looks cannot make up for Bobby's annoying attitude and stupidity. And I honestly think that Mitch was way hotter than Bobby. Why couldn't he have had a shower scene instead!? And speaking of the shower scene, I don't know why, but for some reason the scene with Bobby coming back to life in the shower was sort of blurry in the dvd that I rented. Was it supposed to look like that?

If I understand correctly it's the way it was filmed, on some kind of other film and then cut into the episode which was filmed in a different way on a different set. Patrick filmed a fake TV ad for Irish Spring soap so that no one knew he was coming back.

I would like it for Pam to have married Mark, only she really does love him and not pity him, this would make Bobby squirm as he doesn't Jenna.

I think Pam being married to someone else would've been good development for her, only when Mark dies, does she reconnect with Bobby.

As for JR and Sue Ellen, Sue Ellen should have married Dusty and JR should've married Katherine, oh the irony, JR marrying the half-sister of that Barnes woman who was previously married to his brother!

Lucy should never have remarried Mitch, she should've married Mickey Trotter, her best suitor.

Bobby gets the Barnes woman, and JR gets the Wentworth woman. Can you imagine what the dinner scenes at Southfork would have been like? Lol.
