Jack was absolutely right in telling Bobby off when he returned after Jamie died. Bobby had the nerve to tell him "right now, prove yourself a Ewing." They seem to always bring up "family" when they're in trouble. Lol
Lol...This had to be Bobby's worse episode. Jack tells him where to go, Ray punches him in the face and after he tells Pam Jenna's living with Ray, she loses her mind. Lol

Would Jock have liked Clayton?
When Miss Ellie tells JR that she's invited Clayton to the Ewing Barbecue (2) JR's response is "Why? He hates this family" Miss Ellie says, "Of course he doesn't, he was very good to John Ross at the Southern Cross Ranch and besides I think your Daddy will like him". JR was too interested in hearing Sue Ellen would be bringing their son to bother if his Daddy would indeed like Clayton.
Would the two men have got on? Was Jock too much of a "hard", unscrupulous man for Clayton? Would there have been any interest in Clayton from Miss Ellie if the two men had actually met?

I think Jock and Clayton would have been friends for the same reason that Jock and Punk Anderson were friends. They are just different enough to keep things interesting.
If Miss Ellie hadn't met Jock, she might have ended up with a person like Clayton. She was attracted to each of them for different reasons.
Just like I'm a fan of Jock for different reasons than I'm a fan of Clayton.

Yeah I agree I think they would've liked each other and have had a mutual respect for each other.
In a way they did meet through season tens Wes Parmalee Jock Ewing storyline. This had them at loggerheads because of Miss Ellie and Southfork with Clayton telling Wes at one point that there's nothing here that's yours! I thought that was very disrespectful on Clayton's part because even though the storyline was dropped and Wes left , all the evidence pointed to him actually being Jock. Steve Forrest had great screen presence and would've been terrific as Jock Ewing. This doesn't diminish in any way the performance of the late Jim Davis because I absolutely adore him as Jock.
May all three of them Rest In Peace.

I think Da Man would have seen Clayton as "that mustached guy who lives alone in that tacky ranch in San Angelo. I´d say I b*nged his sister a few years ago...but don´t tell Miss Ellie!"

I think there would have been some mutual respect, but I don't think they'd been friends. JR is a lot like Jock and we know that they were never friends.

Yes indeed that's so right, far too many enablers!
Momma & Daddy enabled their grown up sons' behaviour
Bobby enabled JR many times and covered his tail too often
Everyone enabled Sue Ellen's drinking
The list could go on.....
Just wondered what thoughts anyone had about the best.....

I'm always torn between the two Southforks. The original one suited the mini series with it's imposing and dark, dramatic feeling, but the iconic second one was right for the it's continuation and progression. We needed the bright sunny outdoors with that little pool!

I think the writing was better for David Wayne. I think that Keenan Wynn, who is an excellent actor, could have been more compelling with better writing.

Just another random thought. When Jim Davis passed, the whole dynamic of the Ewing family changed.
Instead of the Battle for Ewing Oil, I think Bobby would have been a Senator or Congressman who tried to be ethical
while Ewing Oil increased its power, leading to some interesting stories.
I always thought JR was disrespected to some degree by Jock, because Jock taught him the oil business,
led JR to believe that he would continue to run Ewing Oil, and then created this competition,
thus undermining JR. Putting aside the post Jock's will management of Ewing Oil,
JR must have been quite successful in growing the business.

Season 14 gets a lot of flack, but the last true episode "The Decline and Fall of the Ewing Empire " is a very good episode.
Dusty came back to deliver one of the best lines in all of Dallas when he said, "Give my regards to Sue Ellen. Oh that's right, I forgot. She dump you." With a smirk.
Continuity error or Ray just being caught up in the moment.
After Jock dies, Miss Ellie invites him and Donna to dinner. Ray says "I never been there for dinner when Jock was alive, I'm sure he'll isn't going there for dinner now."
S5 E3, right after Jock gets to South America, Ray had dinner AND breakfast at Southfork. Lol
After Rebecca Wentworth fired literally everyone in this picture on Cliff's recommendation, they probably were laughing their asses off after Cliff embezzled from the company. Lol

Neither did I but looking at that photo it does certainly resemble the set used for the den at Southfork.
