I know Pam was recently called a nitwit, but she can't hold a candle to Katherine. Doing a rewatch as an adult makes me see things that I didn't even bat an eye before. Katherine actually sleeps with JR multiple times just to get Bobby? There's obsession, but this takes the cake. Lol
The scripts treated Katherine quite poorly. I can empathize that her Mother gave control of the company that her Father had built to
two half-siblings. Katherine deserved better in that regard. And Pam was not so ethical. She left Ray for Bobby. When Pam told Garnet McGee
that she used Ray to get a Ewing, GM remarked that Pam did the same

New random thought about the Mandy "resolution."

In season ten, SE is convinced JR is sleeping with Mandy again (and the poor guy was innocent for once). We see them fight in the hallway over the picture of Mandy with JR at the office and then see her be extremely cold to him at breakfast. But then she fires Mandy and POOF, SE and JR are back to lovey dovey and I don't remember Mandy ever coming up again. So, did SE just decide that JR was telling her the truth about being faithful or did she just figure it wasn't worth fighting about anymore since Mandy left town?

I still think Mandy should have come back at some point - especially after SE moved to London. After all, the last thing Mandy said to SE was "you'll see me again" - or something like that.

Sorry, wrong thread LOL
I meant to put it in the RR HOF thread

All these soft rock non deserving acts that are in - it is appalling
Gordon Lightfoot is not in and he had hit records, including the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, one of the best of all-time
and the Carpenters are maybe the best soft rock act ever

Other notable omissions

Gary Puckett and Union Gap
Johnny Rivers
Grass Roots
Badfinger
Bad Company
Foghat
Sweet
Vogues
Turtles
Classics IV
Black Crowes
Ian Hunter
Mott the Hoople
Warren Zevon
Buckinghams
Turtles
Humble Pie

The list goes on
getting back to Dallas - they’re certainly not soft rock, but I can’t be the only one who thinks Lucy’s favorite Austin band The Coffins should be immortalized on the shores of Lake Erie in the RR HOF.

Hm, maybe I am!

Lucy once brought up that she rather they'd gone to an Elton John concert than the opera. Lol

The best resolution was that she didn't come back and shouldn't have for his funeral either (OK maybe she should!)

Didn't Sue Ellen arrange for them to meet up without either knowing about it and she watched them to gage their reaction? Or was that in the dream? Something definitely happened for Sue Ellen to quickly forget her. I tend to confuse their loved up time from the dream season to season 10 and just remember how I annoyed I was to see her there again in season 10. Mandy was almost as whiny as PP's Jenna and her voice was a female Bobby voice.

Beautiful (to some) she may have been but I was so glad when Sue Ellen got the better of her. A more imaginative story would have been more entertaining but Sue Ellen was right she was a good enough poster girl as well as an easily disposable facial tissue and JR's future didn’t have a Winger in it. Still good enough to see her gone saying, "you'll hear from me again", even though we didn't.

TNT Dallas would have had JR's daughter in season 4.

Maybe Mandy was her Mother?

I think Mandy coming back would have been way more interesting than what we got with Cally and Vanessa. I guess it bothers me that we never got any real closure on that character or her dynamic with SE.

I personally put all 3 of those characters in the same category. I know fans liked Mandy but I wasn't one of them. Cally and Vanessa were also characters I couldn't take to and are so forgettable.

None of them could've ever stepped into the void left when Sue Ellen departed.

I liked Mandy back then but upon rewatches I don’t really feel the same. I had no problem with Deborah’s portrayal. It was more the character.

Cally grew on me once she got to Dallas, but I never could like her pairing with J.R. It just didn’t work for me. Vanessa I’m really indifferent to because at that point the show was basically on the downturn. I didn’t dislike her. I just found the character kind of bland and out of place.

None of them could've ever stepped into the void left when Sue Ellen departed.
And this is the problem. Linda and Larry just had too much history together and it was a tough act to follow for anyone that tried.

No, Cidre has said that the mother would have been someone that we'd never heard of. Heaven knows why she thought that was a good idea
They probably would’ve used it as a vehicle to create another new family to battle the Ewings. It would’ve most likely meant some kind of rewrite to the J.R. character as we knew him in order to make the timeline fit.

Here's a random thought for you Dallas fans who might want to move out here:

There are towns in Texas that will give you free land.

Why?

The population is going down in many of the oil towns. The last oil boom we saw in Texas was in 2008-2010. Many people moved out here and brought their families with them.

It's now 15 years later and the oil workers are retiring. The kids they brought with them are now graduating school and leaving town. There's not much to keep the farm kids or oil patch kids around and they are leaving for better opportunities.

This will be interesting to watch.
