I can't tell if this is a confirmation from him or just a tease? I hope it's true. I love Goddard and he's one of a few people I think could actually fill James Scott's shoes and it would be awesome to have EJ back.

And he's since deleted the tweet. If Days' Eli, Lamon Archey, got sucked in by the tweet too, then I don't feel so bad about it fooling me. Still, maybe the powers that be will have taken note of the positive reaction the tweet generated and a seed will be planted.

Let's get to the bottom of the rumor that suggested The Young and the Restless' Daniel Goddard was joining Days of Our Lives as EJ.

The news (or "news") made me laugh when I heard, because Goddard's EJ would be the most quickly-SORASed character I can imagine. Goddard is pushing 50 and Eileen Davidson and/or Stacy Haiduk would not be plausible as his onscreen mother.

I guess I don't really worry about stuff like that with Days. Characters are already SORAS beyond logic all over the place on that show. Goddard wouldn't look any more out of place with Davidson/Haiduk than the original actor James Scott would have. Plus, EJ's mom is Susan, who looks older than Kristen because of the way they style her. Kristin is EJ's sister and Kristin is the character on Days right now, so it wouldn't really be an issue at all.
Goddard has the right presence for the role and would fit well with Alison Sweeney.
I'm still hoping it might happen.

I don't know how big Daniel Goddard's acting range is. Is he that kind of actor who always acts the same way no matter how different his soap roles are like Michelle Stafford, Steve Burton, Heather Tom or Billy Miller? If so, I don't think "Cane" and Sami would fit, he's too lame for her.

Has Cane always been lame or was he different when he first started on the show? I watch Y&R on and off, but don't think I was watching when he was introduced.
Maybe the announcement excited me so much because I want EJ back and a handsome guy like Goddard would be a welcome addition to the show.
Having EJ off screen, ailing, seems to really hinder the dramatic possibilities for Sami's upcoming return.

Since Alison Sweeney only visits, I don't know what they should do with EJ. Current Chad has become very much EJ, then there's Jake, who's turning into a DiMera more and more. As long as Sami won't return fulltime they shouldn't waste money on an EJ recast.

Well, Sweeney has signed on to do a year-long arc at the very least, so they'll need to adress EJ sooner rather than later.
I think it would be wise to just kill him off. The SORAS history is so messy in his case, the DiMera's doesn't actually need him since they have both Chad and Jake and Sami always has Lucas to fall back on. James Scott is literally never returning (it's rumoured that it was him in the Sony e-mails that had inappropriate contact with an actors daughter, plus even if he wasn't forced out he's himself said he's never going back to Hollywood).

Sometimes I just don't know what to think of spirituality of some former actors. Xena's Hudson Leick is another example: she preaches to calm down, but posts all the time.

With Sami's longer term return coming up, they definitely need to address the EJ issue one way or another. I come down on the side of recasting but if they aren't going to do that then I agree they should just kill him off. I don't get why they brought him back from the dead (off screen) with no intent to recast the role. He was already dead. They should have just left it at that. What a dumb move--and lazy writing.
Is EJ's SORAS that much worse than Brady's? Weren't they both born in the 90's on the show--about four or five years apart? Brady was a baby when Kristin was marrying John and Susan was pretending to be Kristin.

The first thing I ever saw Daniel Goddard in showed an impressive....um, range. But then, I'm shallow and easily amused.
