Yes, it's the same footage/dummy.
Lorimar, in contrast, had other preferences, at least in two of their shows: "Falcon Crest" and "Dallas" had this continuity nightmare of filming most of the exterior footage (usually) for the first ten to twelve episodes per season on distant location, i.e. Northern California or Dallas respectively. This was more like how you produce a movie, and they had additional location budgets, which came on top of their usual per-episode cost. If you break it down to the per-episode cost, "Falcon Crest" had an episodic budget of $1.25 to 1.5 million around 1986, which is the reason why the visual impact was so much better. "Dallas" actually even filmed in Hong Kong at some point. But it's always a matter of where the showrunners put their preferences.

Right it does look like the same place that Nicholas Pearce fell off the balcony in Dallas some years later.
It's a shame Dynasty didn't film more at Filoli as it was such a beautiful location. But yes I agree Dallas and Falcon Crest looked better as a result of them filming at real locations. Also Knots Landing had the advantage of being set in California so they could film a lot by the coast line and it fit right in.
Yes Dallas filmed some episodes in Hong Kong in the 1984/1985 season where you can see Sue Ellen and Pam walk around in the city. Also later on in the 1988/1989 season Bobby, JR, Cally and April went to Austria and Russia. They filmed on location in Salzburg, Vienna and Moscow. Then for their final season in 1990/91 they filmed in Paris when April was kidnapped on her honeymoon and Bobby tried to find her. So it was some great location filming there. I think Dallas probably got away with it since they were the number one show on CBS for many years. Yet it is sort of peculiar how the location filming was permitted at a time when the show was in decline. Maybe they were allowed to do that since they saved money by not going to Dallas for location filming on those seasons.
I actually really enjoyed the Dallas episodes filmed in Europe. Watching that on TV made me want to go to those places.![]()

That is true. Now as an adult I can definitely recognize those places. But when I first watched those episodes of Dallas I was about 12 years old and had never travelled outside of Scandinavia. It was fun, particularly if you know these cities because you instantly recognize so many of the familiar spots they used. I was in Salzburg and Vienna a few times; in Vienna the last time in 2020. It has been quite a while since our last stay in Paris though, but since my wife had lived there for a while, we definitely want to go back there sooner or later and refresh our memories.
I think they probably went to the Santa Barbara area since they have a lot of Spanish buildings there. So it fit with Southern Europe feel they wanted. Also it's cheaper than going to Turkey to film! The exterior shots of Rashid's Istanbul villa are from the Casa Blanca Poolhouse at 851 Sand Point Road, Carpinteria, CA. It's really surprising they went as far as the Santa Barbara area to shoot this. Going beyond the 30-mile studio zone is very unusual for "Dynasty".

i have checked my 20 000 pictures of vintage tv show and movies and I have recognized the bridge in front of the house, that appeared in the movie Jagged ( 1985 ) with Glen Close
the real house was Dean Martin ranch : 1761 E , Portrero road , thousand oaks !!!
the black and white pictures are from 1972
they also filmed inside the house ( check the picture with the fireplace on my collage)
I guess the ranch was erased in the 90S .
