Respect to Victoria for choosing her path, but it doesn't and shouldn't make the other cast members any less valued or dignified.
They still choose to act, she does not. Successful she may have been but so have Patrick and Linda in their chosen careers since Dallas both on screen and stage.
I'll always be so grateful they still choose to participate at these events today, of course for money, obviously it's their job, but also for their fans and their own friendships.
The demand must still be there which is truly remarkable some 45 years later.

I didn't want to discredit the other actors, those who participate in the Fan Conventions. These are different choices and I think for Victoria going there for money is not dignified.
Perhaps for truly celebratory and more profitable occasions ... but exclusively in the past, she would have accepted.

Ive gone to this event 4 times for a Dallas cast meeting

I see Barbara Carerra and Deborah Rennard are there in Oct but wont be jumping on a plane for that
Its a real money making weekend for Celebs
You pay to go it and for a priority pass on a fri night
Then you pay various amounts depending on the celeb
For Dallas cast it was $20 for signing a photo I think and $40 to get your photo taken with them with your camera
Luckily for me - 2 girls who used to post here a lot in the 2000s and who i got to meet at various Dallas events in USA and used to email - ended up working these type of events for Larry and Linda and crossed that boundary from fan to friend and got to know them well - they got to go to lots of Dallas events with them, Premieres and were even with Larry 2 weeks before he died - well they used to waive the $$ when it was me and id pay nothing like what it should have cost!!
And im eternally grateful for that and thats with me bringing my photos for signing, it was still $20
I always thought it so cool and how lucky they were as a fan to end up a friend
The bigger the star the more they charge - I didnt see Patrick Stewart or Ann Margaret - they had their own big room for cueing and people were paying something like $100 for AM and $160 for Parick Stewart (and that was from 2008-12- so dont know what they would charge now)
Some "stars" are rather snippy if someone tried to take a sneak photo of them sitting down at a desk - Ali McGraw and Stephanie Powers for example but Peter fonda was great and so was, Richard Dreyfuss, Mickey Rooney amongst others
There are loads of people you dont know, and a lot selling photos of themeselves when they were alot younger and lot thinner and look nothing like it now
Theses events are huge especially the Halloween one and it was great to people watch at night - as there was always entertainment and people going all out to dress up for Halloween. I was quite happy just to hear people from the Monkees play live for free.
I will never forget one woman who was dressed as a serving wench and had a chest so big she could carry a tray of drinks on it!!!!
Its an experience - but you need to splash the cash, but if I lived locally in NY or NJ - its worth a visit and If Miss P (not going to happen) or Mr Harrison Ford was to do it I'd be there in a flash!!

"It was a life-changing and thrilling experience to be chosen to play Pamela Barnes Ewing. I tried my best to bring her to life and portray her for nine years. Sometimes the producers, writers and the actor have a different vision of a show's direction and the character's journey and development... or lack thereof. When the visions are so divergent that the character becomes unrealistic and unrecognizable to the actor, then it is up to the individual actor to decide where the boundaries lie and what actions are necessary to continue to flourish as a person and as an actor".

Unlike today where breast cancer is spoken openly I'd imagine Barbara Bel put a great deal of trust in the writers to confront such a personal issue. Victoria is right, breast cancer in those days was spoken in hush tones, rarely straying from those shadows.

It seems she was often asked about other cast members and has spoken fondly of Patrick, (although in one interview she's quite curt when asked about Patrick changing his mind and returning) Larry, Barbara, Ken and Priscilla Pointer.
On the flip side it seems other cast members were not always quizzed about Victoria. Obviously Patrick was many times and spoke about her in a professional way as a few others did.
The press would love us to believe there was friction between the female cast namely Victoria and Linda. I've only heard Linda quizzed once (1982 interview) about Victoria who'd had some bad press at the time. Linda speaks of a time it was reported they'd had a fight and both ended up laughing about the story. I'm aware of a couple of times Victoria was questioned about Linda. Terry Wogan joked, "What about that one who plays Sue Ellen, she can't be your chum?"
In a Dallas fanzine interview Victoria is asked if she got to know Linda well and she's very gracious about her.
It seems Victoria talks sweetly about other cast members but others talk about her in a more professional, work relationship capacity.
Most would say it's because Victoria's so nice, I would put forward a different argument that mentioning Victoria was maybe more off limits?
Where did those stories originate from of Victoria being hard to get on with? It's reported she isolated herself in the name of character research, really?
