In my opinion 22 years plus is nowhere near long enough, considering it was murder and there are people serving life without parole for smuggling marijuana.

Chauvin has never apologised, his mother has defended him and a 7 year old girl has been left without a father because of his actions.

Hopefully the sentencing has given some comfort to George's relatives.

I’m very surprised he didn’t get the maximum of 40 years. I’m not a legal expert but the maximum sentence certainty seemed justifiable here to me.

The maximum sentence Chauvin could have received was thirty years which means the judge sentenced him to 75% of that. He could be released in fifteen years for good behavior. I wonder if they are going to take any special precautions to maintain his safety, given the circumstances and publicity he has a target on his back.

Yes he will hopefully be offered the same sort of protection he gave to George Floyd.

The casual indifference that Chauvin displayed while he murdered George Floyd was staggering. I understand that the police force released a statement covering up the criminal actions of their employee by claiming that George Floyd died from a "medical incident"

If not for someone's idea to add video recording to phones, if not for that young lady with the presence of mind to see and understand that what was happening was wrong and record it, and then posting online. If not for the diligence and their prosecutorial excellence of the lawyers.

George Floyd would have died from a medical incident. 22.5 years seems inadequate. But as a great man said,

"Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice".

Kneeling on someone's neck and ignoring their pleas, and dismissing the bystanders as they voiced their concerns over and over again in the knowledge that he was being recorded suggests to me that he was confident that the biased broken system under which he plied his trade would exonerate him of all wrong doing as history informs.

Young lady with the phone that recorded the last moments of George Floyd's ife . I have been moved by your humanity and bravery to testify in such a case that attracted global scrutiny.

If Chauvin was a man of honour he would have pleaded guilty, apologised to George Floyd's daughter and loved ones. Then gone to prison, put a rope around his neck and said "bye bye". Sparing the taxpayers having to feed him 3 times daily.
