Why was there only one movie?

It's my second favourite superhero movie, I love the colours, it's a beautiful kind of green.
Yellow represents Evil, and it's typical that both colours are difficult to combine with other colours.
For example, blue looks good in any combination. But not green. And certainly not yellow.

Why was there only one movie?

The dreaded "failed to perform to expectations." It also wasn't reviewed very well.

I always liked the Green Lantern as a kid, from the Super Friends cartoons. If I wasn't pretending to be Superman or Wonder Woman, Green Lantern was my next choice usually. I had an action figure of him that came with a glow in the dark ring I could wear. Good times.

There's supposedly going to be a Green Lantern appearance in the Justice League movie this Fall and DC is planning a Green Lantern Core movie in 2020.

It also wasn't reviewed very well.

I wonder why...I mean, what more could they have done?
