You're probably right, but that's also the confusing part when both issues are being tackled in one and the same discussion i.e. "how do we feel about Taylor Swift" and "how do we feel about the opinion of Taylor Swift".

Also, I don't think we should make an effort to like or dislike someone or something - sometimes I think absolutely nothing.

I have Taylor Swift's first two albums. Great music, IMO! Instantly, I liked her music and her persona when she was a teenager. I had a lot of admiration for her back then. She was so young and still able to "handle" becoming a successful and world-famous singer/songwriter! She came across as a very sensible, smart, and well-raised girl!

To this day, I still enjoy listening to Taylor Swift's first two albums; especially the songs in which she shares memoirs of her upbringing or her loved ones! Very down-to-earth girl, IMO!

As Taylor Swift grew up and became a young woman, not only did her music style change, so did she as a person! Or so it seems to me anyway! I'm saddened that I'm not able to "relate" to the lyrics of her newer songs! And I can't seem to keep up with the men who has wandered in and out of her life! I hope that she will find someone special to settle down with at some point! And I secretly wish that she with aging will go back to her musical country roots.

It's interesting to read opinions about Taylor Swift from 2017. I wonder if anything has changed in these opinions since then.

I like Taylor's music, but I have to admit that I only bought Taylor's Versions and her last three regular studio albums because I have all the other albums and liked them a lot. Somehow she lost me a bit musically, although I still listen to her music because I spent money on it.

As for Taylor Swift as a person, I'd rather see something like that happen with an artist whose music I like than with someone I don't care about at all.

Even friends say she's narcissistic -- but doesn't that go with becoming that huge a celebrity? I would think you'd have to be -- not only to get there, but stay there, slogging through all that is required to be a superstar and certainly The Girl Boss metaphor of the universe.

I think anyone in this world that is successful in what they do and does it better than just about everyone else has to have a big ego, and the bigger the entertainer the bigger the ego tends to be. I’m sure there are some exceptions but to get to the top and stay there you have to have that mentality on some level.

Not my cup of tea as the old saying goes but each to their own. As I've become older my music taste has changed and I'm discovering the soft/rock, easy listening genre is music to my ears. And thanks to YouTube I'm discovering artists I've never heard of.

I think bland is a good description.
Popular music now - I don't find the most popular acts to be compelling, more like
the in-thing at the moment
Audition type shows seem to create new stars. No sense of a band playing small venues and building a following
Maybe it is just the natural evolution of the industry,
but auto-tuning and lip-synching have removed something special about live performing

I like some of her songs but I don't really get what the fuss is about. She is so popular that people are studying her at the University and she could influence the election if she endorse someone. The tickets to her concerts are super expensive and yet sells out within an hour. So she is undeniably a very popular singer. Yet I don't really know much about her private life or even cares.

I was on hols at end of last year and final few days Taylor Swift was in town

They talk of the Swift effect and the effect she has on a country or city where she was appearing , well the hotel was full of T Swift fans from USA aged from teens to 70s who had flown several thousand miles to see her and one of her concerts was cancelled as a fan died in the heat when i was there. Id have hated to travel all that way and she was no show that night.

She isnt really my cup of tea however her songs are popular at the zumba class I go too.

It’s crazy how she’s become the biggest story this year even when it comes to “the big game.” I honestly think the buildup to the game has become secondary now. When you can influence 14 year old teenage girls to watch a Super Bowl game they would ordinarily not even care about you must be doing something right.

I don't mind the artist Taylor Swift, but the NFL broadcasters are making fools of themselves. They seem to feel that she's more interesting to focus on rather than the game. It's downright embarrassing how they fangirl her instead of being 100% focused on what they're there to do.
