[QUOTE="DallasFanForever, post: 345630, member: 13221"] That would be ironic if I gave you your name this year my friend because I can’t even come up with one for myself yet LOL Yes, you are correct! It’s basically a day for family and sharing a big meal together. It’s definitely less commercialized than Christmas and to me that’s why it’s my favorite holiday. It’s all about giving thanks and unfortunately I think that’s something a lot of us don’t do enough of. It’s easy to forget. I refused to get depressed last year. Usually the holidays are very tough for me and that was something I wanted to change. Life has to go on eventually and it took me a long time to be able to embrace that but I’m glad I finally did. For years I’d look at those decorations in the stores and I’d see everyone so happy and exchanging gifts and laughing and everything I was feeling was just the opposite. And then it hit me that I used to love Christmas. I missed Christmas and I missed walking through the malls and looking at all the decorations and more than anything I missed being with my family. I missed buying gifts for everyone. And I could feel the one person I missed the most telling me that it was okay if I wanted to move on now, that she was fine and I had mourned her long enough. I felt that all through the holidays last year from Thanksgiving to New Years and I had never felt this before. That feeling was there every day and it guided me. That was when I knew I was going to be okay and I could start celebrating Christmas again. That’s why when someone I know tells me they can’t celebrate the holidays that particular year for whatever reason I totally understand. I won’t push because no one pushed me, I have to say. Everyone gave me my time and space and no one ever got mad. We all deal with stuff and we all deal with it differently. You know, I never thought about this til now. I see so many people with their decorations on all day but I never considered what it must cost them. Thank you Lashes! I have had some close calls over the years with these holidays.
