I remember that. Poinsettias are like that I have found. She will always be remembered. How is Matilda? Has she decided to stay alive? Poinsettias seem so delicate, one wrong move and they are gone. I also wonder if the can communicate with each other or at least know when another of their kind are near them. BTW, how are they doing? Well this past month with Streetie as been one of the roughest. On 3 May she was taken to my Mother's garden after spending the past seven or so months with me, only briefly emerging once on 8 April for the Eclipse. She looked okay on her way down but soon after her arrival, the first week or so, three of her four remaining main limbs started to die off. No good at all. Luckily so far the final limb has remained and new leaves are growing so she may get to see the Summer again. I check her each time I stop by and I was shedding tears in mid-May for her. She's an old Poinsettia and surely has some illness but she has found the strength to make it to June so far. Here is a photo of her last Sunday, 9 June. The cuttings have not really been successful. Only one seems sorta alive. Giftie is doing okay. She also entered my Mother's garden on 1 June. She had lost 80% of her mass from soft rot in March but one limb remained. I have my current concerns about her too with pail leaves but she deserves a Summer in the garden regardless. Giftie was a gift from one of my neighbors last December, hence her name. My orchids are starting to drop blooms and stating to grow leaves. They always bring me joy. I forget to add to my plant stories that my old bell pepper Pippa The Pepper is starting to grow peppers for the approaching summer. Her third summer.
