Anything could have happened depending on what personality season 8's writers and producers wanted Julia to have. I suppose her reaction would have been more plot-driven than character-driven.

You forget Liza the daughter of Pilar and Lance. After all, she was Angela's oldest great-granddaughter and she would have been a wonderful heiress to Falcon Cest the gioberti with the Hispanics. Like other forgotten plots, that would have anchored the Ortegas in Falcon Crest

I agree with Monzo. When Michael Filerman was last involved with the show in season 1 the Julia we had then was a levelheaded wine chemist. There were so many twist and turns, water under the bridge from autumn 1982 to autumn 1988. The season 8 controlled by Michael Filerman would probably not have taken Julia down the crazy route again, taking into account his emphasis on Pilar. The former wine chemist now a nun could've come back when Richard had Angela institutionalised. Julia was definitely at her best in season 3 and while 1988 - '89 may well have benefited from her reverting to previous form, imho she wouldn't have liked Pilar, just tolerated her.


Angela is in Rome, at the annual wine tasting awards. Lance brought yet another conquest to the mansion, last night. Julia is aware of this and is not pleased at all. Lance goes to the dining room for breakfast; leaving his date still in bed, (a scene from season 1, 1981 - '82):

Julia is pouring a cup of tea.

Lance: "Good morning!"

Julia: "Your breakfast is cold."

Lance: "Coffee is all I want."

Julia: "What makes you think you can do that sort of thing, in this house?"

Lance: "What did you expect me to do mother, take her to the springhouse?"

Julia goes to give Lance a slap but he stops her.

The door bell rings; then Lance says, "I'll get it Chao-Li."

In the episode the return of Tony there is a very good dialogue between Tony and Lance
He insists that he is the heir to Falcon Crest, Tony tells him that he has known since he was born.
Was Angela sexist? but if she was more capable of inheriting Falcon Crest than her brother
And how I educate Lance. In another episode when he meets a girl, Lance admits that his only college career is to please his grandmother.
Neither economy nor agriculture nor oenology nor trips abroad nothing
But the heir Angela wanted was Lance and not Julia.

It is clear that the idea that Angela was a mother of Richard was a very late idea and that in my opinion it led the series to a dead end

I wonder what Pilar would have thought of Julia, that crazy nun on the run who killed 2 people! Maybe she wouldn´t have liked her at all (you know, the tipsy mother-in-law who is always whining about everything... ) and Pilar would have been the one to take the axe...or the gun!
