As a huge fan of the original show, I'll absolutely be checking this out. But with Luke and Shannon most likely not being a part of this reboot (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a25649662/beverly-hills-90210-revival-original-cast/), this new series will most likely be the bore that the original series was back around season 7.

Interestingly, ETonline reports that the actors "are not reprising their original characters": https://www.etonline.com/beverly-hi...ith-the-og-cast-and-a-surprising-twist-116248

There was a report from a while ago that stated Jennie and Tori were involved in pitching a reboot idea where they played " versions of themselves" rather than Kelly and Donna. So I'm not sure if they were pitching some kind of The Comeback style sitcom / drama show or something reality-ish like The Real Housewives of 90210.

I only watched a bit of the first CW reboot so my knowledge of it is minimal but from my recollection, there is a still lot of the show's original character history to be explored as they only touched on details of Kelly, Brenda, Donna and Dylan's (mentioned but not seen) lives. If they were to bring it back as an out and out soap, I could see it being like a Knots Landing style setup where these forty something friends and their families are living in 90210.

How disappointing. I'd much rather have another revival/continuation show where they return as their characters once more. :(

Well, obviously this is not going to be a reboot or revival of the 90210 narrative. It looks as if the actors will only be playing fictional versions of themselves.

So I guess they're going for an Episodes / The Comeback / So Notorious vibe. Personally, I think too much time has passed since the original show aired for something like this to work. If it makes it to air, it'll have been 20 years since the original ended. Will the references to the old show be recognised after all this time? Will enough viewers care to follow the fictional lives of stars who haven't been that high profile for two decades now? It all seems a bit niche.

Which is why they should go for a streaming network, preferably a smaller one, but who knows.

When I read the premise, the first network I thought of was POP. It airs reruns of the original show and has already tried the soapy scripted reality thing with the train wreck that was Queens of Drama a few years back.

Yes, they need a continuation. Even if the focus shifts from all those kids they had on 90210 and focuses more or all on what's happened to the originals yet also keeping with where characters were way back then and if they returned in the new 90210...Kelly and Dylan had a son. Donna and David separated but got back together, I believe, and everyone else, who knows?!

This is so sad. 90210 without Dylan will never be the same again.
I will still tune in this summer though. I have watched the show for 10 years in the original run and also the first reboot, so I will watch this. Even though I am confused about if they will play their characters or not on the show. IMDB lists them with their characters names but the synopsis that is released in press release say they will play themselves.

Oh dear:

Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith and several senior writers have quit the six-episode series, which is titled “BH90210.” The exact reason for the exodus is unclear. One source said the dispute was over interference from two of the show’s lead actresses, while another noted that the writers were unhappy with one of the executives overseeing the project.

LMAO, they can't even keep it together for what I assume is less than two months of shooting! Way to go Tori and Jennie!
