I wish they did deliver 10 years of Dallas, at 10 episodes a season would have been fine, more a kin to what we see like on Netflix. That would have been good for me. But what we got never felt like Dallas.
1) The house (interior) didn't return and the exterior was being sold from day one.
2) Ewing Oil itself was gone and there was nothing in it's place, they were kind of panhandling for money.
3) JR was a fraction of himself, even if LH was ill, they couldn't even use what time they had to have a larger than life character making us cringe and laugh (even if we didn't see LH doing it, maybe off camera or something that was more than a shadow of the iconic character).
4) No one else was recognizable: Bobby was old and bitter, Cliff was batshit nuts, OK Sue Ellen felt like Sue Ellen of old but it seemed like she lost all the strength we saw her acquire, Ray and Lucy were like Shakespearean ghosts
5) And all the new characters: John Ross was a looser kid, Chris was a bratty kid, Pamela was a batshit crazy kid (though they were all well into adulthood) and everyone else was where the hell did they come from (couldn't even say Carmen was Teresa's sister or cousin or something).
So to me what we saw was a bad dream. Less Dallas than Pam's dream. But there were moment's I liked, which made it so hard to see it just die. It really was a good idea with a big fan base turning out, and unfortunately it was poor executed.
