Starmer has indicated he will fight any leadership contest.

It seems something has changed his mind in the last few days.

He's doing the right thing, but I was still irritated by some idiot sabotaging his speech by blasting out Ode To Joy (it stops at the 4 minute mark - just before the announcement).

Andy Burnham seems a shoo-in now, and I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Wes Streeting - the only realistic challenger to Burnham - has announced he won't run for leadership and has backed Andy Burnham.

By the 16 July we should have a new Prime Minister.

Hallelujah, he's going!

Appalling, useless and dishonest man. When I hear people say "Starmer is a decent man but..." I get annoyed because isn't. When Corbyn was Labour leader, Starmer did what he could to undermine his leadership and worked behind the scenes to get rid of him. Good to see the same had happened to him.

Starmer introduced a disgraceful hierarchy of racism within the party and used racist tropes to appeal to Reform supporters. He priortised taking money from disabled people over taxing the most wealthy people in society. If the public wanted that, they would have voted for the Tories.

Andy Burnham will be a massive improvement, but to be honest, Sooty would have been an improvement over Starmer. I just hope Andy remembers Labour is a socialist party and socialist solutions to the problems we face are the way forward.

Seeing Starmer get emotional during his resignation speech, I couldn't help thinking it was a pity he couldn't feel any emotion for the Palestinian children that were killed with arms and the military support he gave Israel to carry out their war crimes. I have zero sympathy for this odious man.

I do feel some poetic justice has been done, with many of Starmer's 'close' cabinet ministers turning their backs on him so quickly. Just as he turned his back on Corbyn after he had promoted him and stabbed him in the back, and many of those 600000 members of the party who he betrayed as soon as he got elected.

What goes around does come round eventually.

So, now enter Andy stage left...
