So it is true. I had hoped that it wouldn't have been. I remember reading the title of this thread yesterday and my heart dropped when I read "Ken Kercheval has died" and then I read the hoax part and I so much wanted to believe it was true. I know all of us did. But sadly Ken is gone and now is the time to grieve.

My sympathies goes out to his family, friends and co-stars. I especially think of his young daughter who was with him at the SF BBQ. She was a teenager then so must be in her late 20s now. I am sorry for her loss, losing a parent so early in life must be horrible.

I hope his family is given the respect and space to mourn in private. This is their loss more than ours even if we are of course all sad tonight.

RIP Ken Kercheval.

This video was made in 2014 for the #Save Dallas campaign. It sums up everything I love about Dallas. Ken as Cliff Barnes has the last quote. We will all miss him.

It's just so nice to have such a community to cry and encourage each other.
I remember back in the day when i was a teenager and there was no internet, the first loss of a TV-family-member i had to go through was Barbara Stanwyck, who played Connie on "The Colbys".
I was so sad for days after she passed and noone could really understand me, because it was "just an old woman from a TV-show". But these people are so much more to me! They are in my heart! And will be forever.
I liked Barbara Stanwyck too. Loved her on The Big Valley.

i saw this today on IMDB as i was waiting for my ride from work to go home. it caught be totally by surprise in fact and it's sad that he's now gone too well i guess at least we got to see him play Cliff Barnes one last night in the spin-off/sequel? of sorts a few years ago. i wonder how long it's been since Victoria Principal last spoke to him?

Since both are departed fan favorites showing off some of their best work in this scene, and they are discussing those who have left, I thought it fit well the news.

There is surely gonna be a sad day at the Cliff Barnes restaurant & bar in Stockholm tomorrow.

Yes, Cliff has a restaurant named after him. And so has Sue Ellen. The Sue Ellen is also located in Stockholm.

I actually decided on Stockholm as one stop on a multi-city European trip a few years back after stumbling on the restaurant's info as the result of a google search. (I must have googled 'Cliff Barnes', as one does!) It was just a self-amusing whim, but I'm glad I did it - beautiful city! (And of course I had a stiff cocktail or two at Bar Sue Ellen as well!)

Very sorry to hear the news of Ken’s death has finally been confirmed. How darkly ironic that his passing became (pardon the pun) a cliffhanger in true Dallas fashion.

Kercheval was so eminently watchable on Dallas. The increasingly unpredictable and impulsive behaviour of the character meant that the lines were always delivered with real panache and, on many occasions, with superb comic timing. Cliff Barnes was by turns neurotic, passionate, vengeful, vulnerable, high spirited, despairing, dark and humorous. It takes an actor of some skill to run the gamut in the way that Kercheval did. However plodding some episodes of Dallas became you could always be assured that the tempo would increase with the appearance of Cliff.

What a fine actor he was.

It feels like it's starting to sink in now that he's really gone. That hoax thing sure had us all on an emotional roller coaster earlier this week.

Yes absolutely. When the news were first confirmed as true the first people I turned to were other fan friends from this community since they get it.:pals::site:
Also I want to offer an extra hug to @Vote4Cliff who surely must be really sad and upset about the news. :hb:

Yes but like @Barbara Fan I also hated how they ruined Cliff's character on Dallas TNT. I had hoped they would make Ken a regular cast member on that show after Larry passed. But instead they made Cliff go mad and locked him up in that Mexican prison. The more I think of that it was the last we ever saw of the character the more upset I get. It was such an undignified ending to a great character. :(

It was so out of character really. Cliff on the original show could be self-absorbed and out for revenge on the Ewings but he loved his family so I don't see him ever hurting his daughter.
Also one of my favorite Cliff scenes is this one:

Such a great actor he was. :hat:Also it just occurred to me that Priscilla Pointer is still alive so "the mother" outlived "the son".

Once again RIP Ken and thank you for all you gave us Dallas fans. Cliff Barnes was a memorable character that you played to perfection. He was so much more than a loser, as the Swedish news called him last night when they reported on this. :(
