Hollyoaks Meet Tabitha Maxwell-Brown (Linda Gray)

It's just that Joan is 83... Linda is 76. Though both ladies do not look their age.
The character is the mother of regular character Marnie Nightingale, played by 53 year old Lysette Anthony. I don't really think of real ages in regard to playing ages. People usually tell me off for not being in school. Saves on transport fares though.

Marnie's storylines this year have included sleeping with her daughter's boyfriend, played by 25-year-old Charlie Clapham, although they were 52 and 24 resectively when that first happened.

American actress Linda Gray, best known for her award-winning portrayal of Sue Ellen in 1978 drama Dallas, makes her Hollyoaks debut tomorrow as Marnie Nightingale's mother.

Dallas and Models Inc. star Linda Gray is set to make her Hollyoaks debut tomorrow.

The American actress is best known for her award-winning portrayal of character Sue Ellen in the 1978 TV series Dallas.

Gray is also a former United Nations Goodwill Ambassador and starred as Mrs. Robinson in the Broadway and West End productions of The Graduate in 2001. Her legs were famously used in the original movie poster for The Graduate, starring Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman.

Seventy-six-year-old Linda makes her eagerly awaited appearance as Tabby Maxwell-Brown in Hollyoaks tomorrow, when she gets a phone call at her LA home from daughter, Marnie Nightingale (Lysette Anthony).

Marnie has found herself in financial trouble after investing in a property development scam and the only person who can bail her out is mother, Tabby. However, when Marnie’s son, James invites Tabby over to the UK, Marnie pales knowing Tabby will not approve of her getting back with ex-husband, Mac Nightingale.

In scenes during Hollyoaks’ E4 episode at 7pm on Monday 14th November, Marnie bites the bullet and calls Tabby to break the news that her and Mac are back together.

Linda has filmed several episodes for the soap which will see her clash with Mac as well as come up against a seduction attempt courtesy of hapless Tony Hutchinson. But whether or not her relationship with Marnie will be damaged during the scenes remain to be seen.

Talking about her Hollyoaks role, Linda said, “I’m thrilled to be going from one iconic series to another. Hollyoaks viewers are going to love it when Tabby whips up a storm just like Sue Ellen did.”

Hollyoaks executive producer, Bryan Kirkwood said: “When we came to discuss who could possibly play Marnie’s mother the list was very small. Lysette Anthony has fast become a fabulous soap bitch so having Linda Gray play her mother, Tabitha is the perfect fit.”

Linda Gray’s first Hollyoaks appearance airs during the E4 episode at 7pm on Monday 14th November.

Here comes Tornado Tabby!

It’s not all slanging matches, sex scandals and murders – Hollyoaks also welcomes some serious Hollywood-esque glamour to proceedings as Linda Gray makes her debut as Tabby – who is every inch as intimidating and fabulous as Sue Ellen.

Her reaction to Mac is everything that Marnie had been dreading – but the real highlight has to be Tony’s attempt to seduce her. Will it go well? We think Tabby may well have the upper hand on this one, sorry Tony!

Good to see Sue Ellen back in business. Bit of an underwhelming introduction though.
Well, I suppose she's got to get a plane over now.

FROM DALLAS TO CHESTER
Who is Linda Gray? Dallas actress and Hollyoaks guest star – here’s what we know

The 76 year old TV veteran, most famous for her portrayal of alcoholic Sue-Ellen has made the journey across the Atlantic

BY HELEN THOMAS
15th November 2016, 3:33 pm

LINDA Gray is making a brief appearance in the Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks this week, playing Tabby Maxwell-Brown – mother of Marnie Nightingale (Lysette Anthony).

Her character will be arriving in Chester to see her daughter, following the death of her on-screen husband, Charles and creates a bit of a stir to say the least.

Linda has enjoyed a career spanning 50 years – but what do we know about the actress?

nintchdbpict000281889236.jpg

Who is Linda Gray and what is her background?

Linda is a TV legend best known for her role in the long-running TV show Dallas.

She was born in Santa Monica, California and started life as a model in the 1960s before moving into acting.

Linda got experience by first making TV commercials – around 400 of them, and then winning guest roles in several popular TV series before landing her starring role in Dallas.

Linda as long-suffering Sue-Ellen with her on-screen husband Larry Hagman, who played JR Ewing

What about her career?
Part of the original cast, Linda played the alcoholic, downtrodden Sue-Ellen Ewing, wife of notoriously evil oil baron, JR Ewing.

Sue-Ellen was on our screens from 1978-1991 and Linda was nominated for an Emmy for her portrayal. She then reprised the famous character in the 2012-2014 revival series.

After her first stint in Dallas, Linda starred in several made for TV movies as well as appearing in theatrical stage shows.

She came to the West End in 2001 to play the iconic Mrs Robinson character in The Graduate which seemed fitting, as in her modelling days it was Linda’s stockinged leg that appeared on the original poster for the iconic movie starring Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman.

Sportsphoto Ltd./Allstar

Linda was paid just $25 for this shot of her legs in the iconic movie poster for The Graduate
A recognisable face, Linda has made guest appearances in several US television series alongside her film roles – she played Darnell in 2010’s Expecting Mary.

Linda was reunited with some of the original members of the Dallas cast for the reboot in 2012

Why is she appearing in Hollyoaks?
There was much excitement when The Sun revealed that Linda had been signed up for a stint in Hollyoaks.

She is initially only scheduled to appear for a week, but producers are open to a longer run if her character proves popular.

Playing the glamorous Tabby, she will be bringing drama too, clashing with her on-screen daughter – fuming that Marnie has taken Mac back.

Executive producer of the Channel 4 show, Bryan Kirkwood, said: “When we came to discuss who could possibly play Marnie’s mother the list was very small.

Lysette Anthony has fast become a fabulous soap bitch so having Linda Gray play her mother, Tabitha, is the perfect fit.”

I saw her tonight yay beautiful as ever ❤️
I've seen some Facebook comments on that, like:
"The actress who plays Marnie is 53 and Linda Gray (her onscreen mum) is 76... however I didn't see such an age gap because Linda looks amazing!"
"She looks younger than Marnie!!"
"I thought that was her sister"
With lots of variants on the same thing.

"Omg, Sue Ellen is in hollyoaks!!!!!!! Can't wait for that lol"
"Yaaay love her Dallas was my all time favourite programe !!"

Linda Gray has confessed she has developed a soft spot for her 'Hollyoaks' co-stars.

Linda Gray

Linda Gray has a crush on all her male co-stars in 'Hollyoaks'.

The 'Dallas' beauty has just joined the Channel 4 soap as feisty mother Tabitha Maxwell-Brown and, although she's only just started shooting her scenes, she's already developed a soft spot for the majority male cast and can't resist staring at them when she's meant to be working.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Linda explained: "All the men on 'Hollyoaks' are just yummy. They're delicious. It was like going to an art gallery.

"I could appreciate what was in front of me, but I didn't take it home. I've relaxed into life. This is the best time of my life and I have more fun now."

And, although she's settled in already, the 76-year-old actress had no idea what 'Hollyoaks' was when she was dished out the script from producers and had to rely on her British friends to explain.

She said: "I love England, I read the script, she's feisty, I love the feisty ones.

"I asked all my British friends 'What is 'Hollyoaks'?' and they all said it was a great idea.

"I'm 76 and I feel amazing - Maybe better than I did when I was younger. My motto is 'choose wisely' - and I think I've chosen wisely."

Linda - known for portraying long-suffering wife Sue Ellen Ewing in 'Dallas' between 1978 and 1989 - announced she had joined 'Hollyoaks' last month and was "thrilled" she had been chose by bosses.

She said at the time: "I'm thrilled to be going from one iconic series to another and can't wait to work with the fantastic cast.

"'Hollyoaks' viewers are going to love it when Tabby whips up a storm just like Sue Ellen did."

Although Linda's appearance in the show will only last a week, bosses have left the door open for a future return.

'Hollyoaks' Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood explained: "When we came to discuss who could possibly play Marnie's [Lysette Anthony] mother the list was very small.

"Lysette Anthony has fast become a fabulous soap bitch so having Linda Gray play her mother Tabitha is the perfect fit.We can't wait to have an international TV icon arrive in Chester and become part of the 'Hollyoaks' family."
