Joan has remained silent - but her last post was wishing Diahann Carroll a heavenly birthday last month. Did Joan and Michael have a falling out post Dynasty?
Not that I know of. Maybe Joan was irked that he bailed (albeit involuntarily) from the "horrendous thing" called DYNASTY: THE REUNION.

So sad. Farewell Dex Dexter. Rest in peace, Michael Nader. :(
I really liked him on Dynasty, he had great chemistry with everyone, especially Joan.
But also loved him with Daniel Reece, Krystle, Leslie and (too) briefly with Dominique and in the last seasons he had some very great stuff with Fallon and Sable too.
Very sad loss.

I didn't really care for Dex until Season 9 because that was the first time they seemed to use him correctly -- but then, that was true for a lot of them.

His wife published this message on his Facebook account :

It grieves me to share the sad news that my husband, Michael Nader, passed away at home on August 23rd. He was diagnosed with untreatable cancer on Friday the 13th and died 10 days later with me and his best fur friend Storm by his side. His death and diagnosis was sudden and unexpected and I have never experienced such agony as watching my soul mate die before my eyes. He was loved by so many and treasured his fans and their letters and emails. He responded to them all. He was working on a book about his life and addiction before he passed. He had so many talents and skills and it's hard to imagine living life without his beautiful and wonderful presence, joy and laughter.
This is just so incredibly sad but it explains a lot. I feel sorry for his wife having lost him so suddenly. It's scary how fast it all went. :(

Watching Dynasty I always thought that Dex Dexter filled the role of the hero on the show. I guess some people might say that Blake was supposed to be the hero. But it was Dex who did all the dangerous stuff like rescuing King Galen from Moldavia etc.

I also loved Alexis & Dex as a couple on the show, even though their relationship was toxic.

I am not sure he bailed. I don't think he was even asked back?
EDIT - I just read in Joan's article about him that he was on contract to ALL MY CHILDREN when the reunion was being filmed and they wouldn't let him go to do it.

In addition and pre Dynasty, Michael Nader was in an NBC soap opera called Bare Essence, set in the perfume\cosmetics industry.

There is a Dynasty connection - Bare Essence began life as a miniseries on CBS, with Linda Evans in the role of Genie Francis's mother. Also in the cast of the miniseries was Bruce Boxleitner.

Although the miniseries got great ratings, CBS passed on turning it into a weekly serial. (Think All The Way in Australia -which was a flop as soon as made weekly).

NBC however decided to commission Bare Essence as a weekly serial. With Linda Evans doing Dynasty, Jennifer O'Neill, who later appeared in Glen Larson's Cover Up, which like My Sister Sam is only well known nowadays because of the behind the scenes tragedies (the voice of Tommy Pickles from Rugrats sang the theme to Cover Up, a Bonnie Tyler cover), took over Evans's role.

With Boxleitner probably busy too, Al Corley, the original Steven in Dynasty, took over his role after the NBC switch.

It only lasted 11 episodes before ending.

NBC did bizarrely schedule it - it aired after The A-Team on Tuesday night, as NBC hoped Peppard and the gang would have viewers sticking around to watch BE. Unfortunately it lost most of the A-Team lead-in.

In the end, they replaced it with the Pierce Brosnan series Remington Steele (which had undergone a retooling too for S2, with James Read leaving of his own accord and Janet DeMay fired and the replacement of both with Doris Roberts) and BE went up where RS had been, on Fridays at 10pm against Falcon Crest. And BE was never going to survive there.

Joan Collins shares her (selective) souvenirs of Michael Nader :

I found this article really interesting. Joan says there were 5 guys shortlisted and Jon Eric Hexham auditioned fourth and Michael Nader was last to audition. Both Joan and Aaron liked Michael. We all know that if they had chosen Jon Eric if would have saved his life.

No disrespect to Michael but I never bought into his portrayal of Dex. Janet Street Porter in the UK famously said on national TV she didn’t know any women who fancied him in the role for what that’s worth though he obviously had his fans.

My mother was crazy for him and I loved him together with Alexis! They had such a chemistry and it was good to have a more sexual couple beside the romantic-fire-place-B&K-scenes ...

John James, Terri Garber and Emma Samms also posted tributes on their social media.

I think they did because they took various shots at each other long ago. But this should’ve trumped that. Typical Joannie…

This is news I got from a Dynasty fanpage. Hoping it's true, I copy the message in here:

Michael Nader's wife is really struggling with his passing and fans would like to try to cheer her up. If any of you would like to send a note of encouragement talking about what Michael meant to you or how much you enjoyed his performance as Dex (or any other characters he played), please send it to info@shopmichaelnader.com You can also include pictures of yourself with Michael if any of you were lucky enough to meet him. The owner of this site is going to put all the notes in a little book for his wife and surprise her with it.
