No comments on the Middle East Peace Talks/deals?

Israeli Hostages being released?

I would have thought this was good news.

The President and his staff have achieved a deal, or at least the first phase of it. That is certainly something to be complemented on.

Israel and Hamas agreed to a peace deal. Here's what we know.

Donald Trump announced a peace deal between Israel and Hamas to end the two-year-old war in Gaza on Oct. 8.

James PowelFrancesca ChambersKim Hjelmgaard
USA TODAY

"President Donald Trump announced on Oct. 8 that Israel and Hamas have agreed to implement the first phase of a peace deal aimed at ending the two-year conflict.
"This is a GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America," Trump said in a Truth Social post.
Leaders from Israel, Hamas and mediator Qatar subsequently confirmed the deal."

The process has been difficult, and there is work to be done, but it is a major step forward

It was very moving watching the hostages being reunited with their families after 2 years

Trump has achieved something his predecessors weren't able to and that is commendable, and he deserves credit

Hamas wont want peace though, they will fight with anyone - you just need to look at that part of the world and all the terrorist factions of one religion.

Netanyahu and the IDF haven't been fighting Hamas. They've been genociding citizens, mostly children, by the tens of thousands. Israel's intention is to ethically cleanse Gaza and the "war" will not end until they've finished the job.

Christians have killed far and away more innocent people than Muslims have. All deliberate innocent killings are horrendous though.

This same "deal" practically was on the table months ago but Netanyahu didn't want to stop killing innocent civilians. So the U.S. allowed his regime to continue with the genocide. The deal only got signed now because the world was turning on Israel and practically everyone but the US and Netanyahu's regime wants a Palestinian State.

Trump org. and Jared Kushner have lots of rebuilding contracts now I'm sure.

Trump only had a framework of a deal...."concepts of a plan". Let's get some outside journalists in Gaza ro see exactly how bad the war crimes are that were committed by Israel with US weapons and support. It was completely unheard of for democratic countries to ban journalists and food and Netanyahu shouldn't get away with it.

Precisely right. Nobody's defending Hamas, of course, but Israel's response has been even more heinous and left a much larger body count.

It's great that the hostages were released, but Israel wanted to drive out the Palestinians before the attack by Hamas (Trump supports this as well.)

Netanyahu's already proven that nothing's really changed since he got what he wanted out of the "ceasefire."

THE BIBI FILES documentary has been removed from all streaming services (surprise, surprise) but here's a little piece from Ian Carroll about it:

Great post and I agree 100%.

I also will not join in with the plaudits for Donald Trump who, along with his predecessor Joe Biden, has armed, aided and abbetted the Israeli genocide. Praising him for peace in the area is like praising an arsonist for bringing a bucket of water to the infurno he helped to start.

I'm not a religious person but I hope there is a vengeful GOD upon their (terrorists) arrival at the pearly gates. I'm so over men using GOD as an excuse for death and destruction.
The deliberate massacre of 65,000 civilians, many of which were women and children by Netanyahu was as shameful act of terrorism. God will judge him for his actions but before then he needs to be judged in The Hague.

You're on a roll. I never thought I'd agree this strongly with you on... well, anything, but here we are. Very well said.

The problem is, when revenge is plotted, it's always against innocent civilians on both sides. Hamas (the terrorist group they are) use legitimate deaths perpetrated by their perceived adversary to round up supporters willing to die for revenge. The same way Netanyahu got people wanting a revenge attack in Gaza. It's human nature and leaders use that to their advantage all the time.

Bottom line is, what Netanyahu's government did to tens of thousands of innocent civilians in Gaza was a terrorist attack as well.

There should be a law where the leader of a nation who orders a military attack, has to lead the charge into battle. For if it's truly a noble cause to fight for, they should be willing to risk their own lives and not just the innocent soldiers and civilians. You can almost guarantee there wouldn't be any wars.

The nearly 2 million Gazans have no homes, no jobs to go to and no food. So this is far from over and celebrating it as such is completely abhorrent. Though, I'm glad the living hostages are free (the dead shouldn't be forgotten either), this war only created future "terrorists" who will inevitably be convinced their attacks are warranted for the deaths of thousands of children.

Too often, those who suffer tragedies are reduced to statistics.

In an effort to be positive, here is an article with the names of the 20 Israeli hostages who were released.

May they experience healing and comfort, as well as their loved ones

Israel has their Hannibal Directive policy where they happily kill their own people (even those being held hostage) in order to prevent them from being used as political tools (even when Israel wants them used as political tools). And have done so.

Many of the Israelis killed on October 7th were killed by Israeli forces -- and not exactly "by accident". (Bibi funded Hamas, was told well in-advance that the 10/7 attack was coming, and it was evident even to the layman observer within 24 hours that the 10/7 attack was allowed to happen).

There will be no peace in the middle east, and certainly not in Gaza. After all, Israel is working on seven different wars at once. And America will fund it all, Washington afeared all their baby-rapin' activities be revealed to the world. (Not that the world would be all that shocked by this point, but AIPAC can supplement one's income vary nicely).

I'm glad the hostages have been released, but it's not quite the noble, heart-rending moment some people are selectively pretending it is. The baby-slaughter in Gaza will resume, and the mainstream media (state TV, really) will insist that "Hamas" revved up its fighting again.

And so on.

World celebrates as Israeli hostages are freed, ceasefire holds in Gaza: Recap

"The United States, along with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, mediated the agreement between Israel and Hamas, following Trump's Sept. 29 unveiling of a ceasefire proposal alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Negotiators for Israel and Hamas later agreed to the deal last week, with Trump announcing it on social media."

This is more hope than the world has had in a long time for this region.
It is always better to find a better path, and this is a huge step forward

Thanks to all who are making this possible

I was able to find supporting evidence for everything Snarky mentioned:

1. The Hannibal Directive policy: https://www.theguardian.com/world/a...el-idf-hannibal-protocol-hamas-attack-haaretz.

2. Bibi funded Hamas: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/10/world/middleeast/israel-qatar-money-prop-up-hamas.html, as well as https://www.timesofisrael.com/for-years-netanyahu-propped-up-hamas-now-its-blown-up-in-our-faces/.

3. Bibi was warned about the impending October 7th attack: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/30/world/middleeast/israel-hamas-attack-intelligence.html, as well as https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveb...become-more-willing-to-take-risks-and-attack/.

4. In February, Trump discussed relocating the remaining citizens of Gaza so that it could be redeveloped into "the riviera of the Middle East." Netanyahu responded by saying "“You say things others refuse to say. And after the jaws drop, people scratch their heads and they say, ‘You know, he’s right.’”: https://edition.cnn.com/2025/02/05/politics/trump-gaza-takeover-analysis.

5. Israel's involved in 7 different wars: https://www.commondreams.org/opinion/israel-7-front-war.

6. AIPAC speaks for itself. It's the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Both parties in the US do Israel's bidding as a result of this lobby. Even the candidates for mayor in NYC were asked their position on Israel! These days, being an American patriot means pledging one's unwavering loyalty to Bibi.

As I said before, it's great that the remaining hostages were released. However, a lack of optimism when it comes to Netanyahu abiding by the ceasefire is not without merit. Nobody is against finding solutions, but both Netanyahu and Trump have indicated that their "solution" is to force out the Palestinians by any means necessary so they can redevelop Gaza. It's part of the "Greater Israel" vision, which isn't a conspiracy and is verifiable by a Google search.

I think both of these things are true.
The release of the hostages is good news but I don't see many more of Trump's twenty points coming to fruition. Even that point is not done, with many of the deceased still not accounted for.

I for one will wait with the celebration. This area is heated and has been forever, and it's very likely this peace is only temporary.

The cat and the dog have agreed to step away from each other for now. But knowing the cat and the dog, they will never get along. They will never like or even respect each other. And a time will come when they collide again for yet another fight.

Terrific that it's a time out now. But I will not do any sigh of relief that we have any permanent peace.
