President Trump's Physical and Mental Decline

I don’t want to hear “WHAT ABOUT BIDEN?” from Trump’s supporters to defend the Orange One’s decline because (a) Biden is no longer President, (b) he will never again stand for elected office, (c) he is yesterday’s man and (d) he is not directly relevant to the growing evidence that President Trump is showing clear signs of physical and mental deterioration.

Many commentators have observed that Trump moves with apparent difficulty at times. For example, his struggle to climb the stairs to Air Force One after his recent summit in Alaska. He has also displayed persistent swelling in his ankles, a condition often associated with chronic venous insufficiency, and an unexplained bruise on the back of his hand lasting over a month, which doctors have suggested could indicate anything from minor trauma to more serious issues requiring medical evaluation.

He is also showing ever more common verbal slip-ups and confusions which could indicate cognitive decline. He has frequently mistaken the names of people and places, such as referring to Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen as "Kristi Noem" (the governor of South Dakota) and then confusing her with "Christie Kerr" (a professional golfer). At a bill-signing ceremony last month, Trump appeared not to recognise the bill’s sponsor Derrick Van Orden. Trump asked out loud “Where is Derrick” even though the congressmen was stood directly beside him.

The man is 79 years old and still has 3.5 years left of his Presidency. Should we be concerned about his declining mental and physical health?

There are stories leaking out (which seem plausible, especially since no one -- not even the DNC -- is really running with them) that Trump may have had a recent health diagnosis which isn't good. And during his first term, he was rushed from The White House to a nearby hospital with an emergency health episode. (Heart attack? Orange flatulent toxicity?) We may never know.

My guess is that he won't attempt to circumvent the post-FDR Constitution and run for another term in 2028.

What is it with these institutions and promoting old men past their prime? Is it because they hold the belief I've served my time therefore I should be elevated as Supreme Leader by default?

Another example is The Vatican. Instead of promoting someone with youth and vigour let's drop another old man into the position. The current Pope is 69 but has he travelled since obtaining the post to tend to his world flock?

The Don may be of the belief he is doing good in the world but at 79 he should be enjoying golf and spending time with family. But, he has a different mind set then most.

I assume it's to prevent the substantive change that threatens to come with younger people.

Who here would say that?
My guess is he's being overly defensive because he was a staunch defender of Biden's health until the moment he was forced to drop out of the race.

As someone who's neither a Biden nor a Trump supporter, I have no qualms acknowledging that they're both in very poor health and were never fit to be president.

No, I was just pre- empting the usual comments that follows any negative comments on here about Trump that try to turn it everything into criticism of Biden and the Democrats.

That was happening when Biden was still in office and still relevant, though. There was pushback because some people believed that only Trump was worth criticizing.

Now that Trump's the incumbent and is serving his final term, it makes more sense to focus solely on his failing health and shortcomings.

You seem to think that there are two groups in the world: pro-Biden Democrats who think correctly, and pro-Trump MAGA Republicans out to destroy the planet.

You even do it here, where the evidence doesn't support your assertions that we're all out to "defend Trump."

But the "both parties suck and are utterly corrupt" argument just falls on deaf ears for some people, so righteously rigid ideologically that they only grasp a Saints vs. Devils dynamic.

I get that argument - but surely there are degrees of suckiness though? I mean would you not rather a corrupt Democrar administration to Trump? It’s rotten there isn’t any chance of change other than far right change - it’s getting a bit like that here. We’re stuck with a Labour Party in government that is just a complete let down - so weak and void of principle - and we’ve the threat of a far right government coming in next time. It feels like the world has been bought by corporations and nation states are as powerless as governments are compromised. It feels like are only going to get worse for ordinary people.

The lesser-of-two-evils argument no longer works -- at least not here. The surface rhetoric varies, but both parties are bought out by the same corporations, both parties are ultra-pro-war, and both parties care nothing about the working class (or former middle class).

Which is why some voters flip parties every two or four years out of desperation. Doesn't work. Doesn't matter.

I blame the people...yes, us. I can recall once upon a time a level of decency and respect running through the veins of society. Nowadays it's all about me, me, ME. Social media has amplified this. Too many voices, too much noise. Politicians pander to the minority voices while the silent majority are ignored.

Trump is genuinely having serious health issues. He recently admitted, "I'm not doing well." And also said he's not sure he'll get into heaven, and asserted that he'll try to get into heaven by stopping world war and ceasing the war in Ukraine.

Why do people have to be at death's door before they have any conscience about their behavior??

Corrupted people reach a point where they're forced to face their own mortality. Some of them try to atone for their sins at the end just in case heaven and hell are real.

It would be nice if they'd see the light before their health begins to fail, but sadly, it's the people without a conscience who thrive in business and politics.

So, it's a business model of sorts.

So many people, rich or poor, wind up gasping, "I'm sorry ... I'm sorry ..." (or words to that effect) on their death beds in a delirium. (I've even had people in my own family do it).

But then there are folks like Napolean (not the pastry) who was reputed to have been sputtering his next battle plan even as he died.

So, it's all about differences. It's all about diversity.

Trump was showing very real signs of cognitive decline during the campaign. Everyone (the media, voters) was so zeroed in on Biden's obvious mental decline that almost no one talked about Trump's. It's really a shame because we should have had a SERIOUS discussion about Trump's health, but never did. Now, he seems to be having serious physical problems to go along with his mental decline.

He did FINALLY say something I agree with, I'm not sure he will get into heaven - in fact, pretty sure he won't.

We were calling out Biden's dementia as early as 2018 -- two years before he was elected. His people, and the media, were denying it for six more years.

As to whether Trump was experiencing cognitive decline during the 2024 campaign, it's more nebulous: his half-cocked, bombastic liturgies and off-the-cuff performative pomposities made it a little tough to determine how much of it was mental deterioration or how much was just Trump being Trump.

And, frankly, it still is.

But he's lucid enough to now say, "I'm not doing well" and express his concern about what awaits him in the afterlife.

In contrast, Biden still insists that he himself is just fine, and that he could "take you" in a fistfight.

There were discussions about Trump's declining health prior to the election, but Biden received more attention because his cognitive decline was much more noticeable.

I've come to find that just about anything can become a partisan issue these days. Biden's staunchest supporters claimed that concerns over his mental health were a "right wing conspiracy," while Trump's staunchest supporters claimed that concerns over his mental health were a deflection by liberals. Meanwhile, everybody else could see that these were two very decrepit men who had no business being president. Now that Biden's political career is finally over and Trump is serving his final term, it makes more sense to focus entirely on Trump's declining health. However, the knee jerk reaction of "I don’t want to hear 'WHAT ABOUT BIDEN?'" is very telling considering who it's coming from.

As for Trump, his diet of McDonald's and Diet Coke certainly hasn't done him any favors (I've had similar dietary struggles, but then I don't plan on being president.)
