The UK media have a cosy relationship with the Royals so they don't publish any stories they may find embarrassing. There are also rumours that Willie has taken out a high court injunction banning media outlets from reporting on his affair. However, the foreign media have been reporting on William's alleged affair for a while now.Did I miss something here. When did he slide in on the sly?
Ok and thanks. Kate is sticking around, so little more that a doormat. The UK media have a cosy relationship with the Royals so they don't publish any stories they may find embarrassing. She's likes the trappings of royalty too much and values it more than her dignity.Ok and thanks. Kate is sticking around, so little more that a doormat.
I agree Ol' Kate is from Newbury in Berkshire. Newbury is about 30 minutes from where I live, and I have been working there as and needed. She's likes the trappings of royalty too much and values it more than her dignity.
My source (sounds grand but it's just a friend that works in the media and has good contacts) told me it was William who expressed concerns about how dark Meghan's child was going to be.I'm thinking that she has the one that asked how dark skinned Megan and Harry's child going to be....
I think they call her "Queen Consort" at the moment because they feel the public won't accept her being queen soon Elizabeth 2 died. Previous wives of the King were just known as Queen so I suspect it's only a matter of time before they start calling her Queen Camilla.I wonder how long it will be before they stop calling Camilla "Queen Consort" in every single reference and shorten it to simply "Queen". I remember my grandmother had a strong affection for Queen Mary (wife of George V) and never could understand the difference between a consort and what I called "a real queen."
From what I understand, and people who watched The Crown will know better than me as I know they covered this, Philip had to bargain pretty hard with the queen to even be given the title of prince, as technically he was not entitled to that title. So she went against protocol and his title was changed from Philip, Duke of Edinburgh to Prince Philip a decade after they were married. I do know that he had to renounce his titles as a prince of both Greece and Denmark in order to marry the queen, so he went from being a prince to a duke to a prince again.Philip remained merely a prince, and a Prince Consort at that, didn't he?
Did anybody complain about that?
So, why not Philip when QE2 was Queen ?
Thank you!Short answer is that Mary I was England's first official Queen Regnant and there wasn't much precedent to follow. There was a special Act passed by Parliament to cover Mary's marriage to Phillip, allowing him to be co-regent. That Act was later repealed.
Generally speaking, a King would be presumed to outrank a Queen, even if they were co-rulers. A man who married a Queen wouldn't automatically become anything. I believe that holds true of all British titles; an untitled man who marries, say, a Duchess, wouldn't become a Duke. Phillip was made a Duke prior to his marriage to Elizabeth, and she made him a Prince a few years later.
