Random things you hate

I hate CDs with the movements of a symphony spread over multiple discs. Some Mahler symphonies are long enough to require more than one disc but most of the time this is done to reduce the number of discs in a set.

Mahlers third is wonderful.

I keep saying I'm going to stop this, but I have a terrible habit of putting my shopping (groceries) and general stuff, like my handbag on the back seat of my car. When I brake, as is sort of necessary, the amount of times my bag falls over, the stuff flies out of the bag and rolls under the seat. I lost my salmon the other day only to find it under the seat about an hour later!!!!!! It drives me MAD!

Since I can't adequately describe the latest object of my disgust, I'll have to attach a photo.....

I'm seeing old folks in stores wearing this type of "mask" and can't believe that anyone would think such a contraption would protect them from anything. I just want to grab them by the shoulders and shake them. But then, this photo is from Amazon so they're willing (and allowed) to sell it to stupid people.

Paint. Paint on everything. At the risk of sounding like one of those people who goes off about pineapple on pizza I have to gripe about this. I understand painting an old piece of furniture that is on its last legs or a piece of pine or some other lesser wood but I can't get over people slapping a coat of paint (often milk paint) over a beautiful old piece of mahogany, walnut or cherry. Refinish it. Sell it. Donate it. Buy a new piece of furniture that is probably particle board and paint it, distress it and glaze it to your heart's content but please leave the beautiful old pieces of wood alone. Also paint over brick bothers me. Brick needs to breathe, the mortar joints need to breathe even more. Painting brick can create a build-up of moisture which can lead to cracks, mildew, mold, etc.

People driving with their mask on when they’re the only person in the car. Drives me nuts! I’m not sure if they are afraid they can get the virus from their car or if they are afraid of giving their car the virus from its owner but it just looks ridiculous to me

I can kind of understand it. Mask wearing outside is no longer compulsory here but if I'm going directly to the supermarket I still put it on before leaving home. It's just less of a hassle than messing with it every time I go in or out a doorway.

Sorry about this one as I know most of us are trying to be careful but...

I am sick to death of having to wait behind people who block the doorway to Tescos while they sanitise their entire trolley, children, shoes, hands whatever.

Last night the remains of Brian Sicknick, the Capitol Hill police officer who lost his life defending the Capitol against terrorists attempting a coup arrived at the Capitol where he will lie in honor before being buried at Arlington National Cemetery. CNN and MSNBC carried this live. Fox, the network that says "blue lives matter" did not. While CNN and MSNBC were showing Officer Sicknick's fellow officers and the President and First Lady paying their respects Sean Hannity covered the story of a woman ejected from a basketball game for heckling one of the players; Laura Ingraham criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci and continued to suggest Hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for Covid-19 despite there being no credible evidence to support that claim.

People that have long conversations with the cashier or the teller while I’m standing behind them waiting to be helped. I just want to get done so I can get home. I like waving at them til they get the point or sometimes I just give up and join in the conversation. If I’m gonna wait til their done I might as well help them solve their problems

The brutal and relentless discrimination of left-handed people.

I had bought a thermometer - a fancy one with a display - and yesterday I decided to try it out and make it user-ready. Because that's not the kind of thing you should do when you are feeling feverish.
So, I followed the microscopic tiny instructions, tested it and....what was on the display didn't make any sense, kinda like alien symbols.
Furiously, I threw the useless thing onto the table, causing the thermometer to rotate 180.
And what did I see? 36.7
Why is it SO hard to believe that anyone would hold it in their left hand?

I've often wondered how a left-handed person could operate a manual turntable. It just occurred to me that handheld can openers are also designed for righties. I need to stop this before my head explodes.

As a left handed person I can honestly say it does get a little frustrating sometimes. Luckily over the years I was able to adapt and I’ve become ambidextrous with most things. So in a way everything being geared towards right handed people was actually a blessing in disguise for me.

Friends on Facebook who think everyone is interested in seeing endless pictures of their children. One photo is about the limit of my interest but tens of photos of them opening Christmas presents, first day back at school, day out at the funfair etc., is overkill. I'm sometimes tempted to block friends because I'm so fed up with my timeline being taken over by pictures of their offspring.
