The fact that I've gotten so angry. The fact that I don't think people are worth trusting. The fact that once upon a time I'd just be a chill dude, who'd meet someone and then like them for not other reason than liking them, but now I'm weary - I do not trust people anymore and it really bothers me.

You're just being realistic. Which can be painful.

Only the villains can trust anybody.

But I hate it. I hate not being able to trust people, again - in the past I just threw my trust towards people because what's the harm? I trust you, you trust me. It's very simple. Now?

There's absolutely no trust. No one can be trusted. Every time I speak to someone I start questioning their motives now - it's bothersome. I preferred the old me - the new me is objectively horrible. I've become meaner, more cynical and I absolutely hate it.

There's always that one thing in the back of my mind: If I step out of line and says something that will not please them, will they start to hate me?

If their betrayal of trust is unjustified (and if you haven't legitimately done it to them) then all you can do -- healthily -- is forgive them (which doesn't mean their behavior is now okay, nor does it mean you're obliged to maintain a relationship with them).

People are weak. That's not a platitude -- they simply are. If their behavior is despicable or traitorous, it's just how they're wired. And you'll never be able to do anything about it... They'll likely behave the same way to others (unless they run across someone who's particularly rotten and, hence, seems authoritative).

Life is melancholy. And this is one of the reasons why.

But what's the point if there's no trust?

The reason why I'm upset is because they've treated me in the way I never would treat them; I guess I've always seen relationships as a two-way street. You treat me right, I treat you right. I don't leave you hanging, you don't leave me hanging. I guess I've never seen a person having a slight opinion other than me as a reason to completely dump them and then pretend they're poison. I'd always want to hear them out - but apparently not. Every time I think about it, it makes me go "ick". Like why?

I just don't know. I've always put my trust in people and now it's being shat on. I simply do not know what to do. Am I stupid?

If you're being honest about your approach to relationships, there's not really a calming answer to it. All you can control in your reaction to it -- you don't want to join the dark side and behave the same way, nor should you accept their habitual behavior towards you. And suicide is always a bad option -- so don't do it.

If they've dumped you -- and they've dumped you unfairly -- accept it as a gift (albeit a painful one) because it's revealed more about them and their issues than it does about yours... And if they hadn't dumped you (if indeed it was unfair and unjust) their issues would have just come up at a later time and possibly in an even worse way.

It's your Zen response to it which is the only solution. And that requires detached forgiveness and the ability to move on... Obviously, that's not easy, but just focus on understanding their weakness (if that's what it was -- and it usually is) and accept their inability to be otherwise.

This is... surprisingly good advice. I don't know. I guess for me it's the fact that I went from being care-free to despising people.

And I'm not ready to forgive - I've in the past stood up for people who've had a bit of a different opinion. I'll continue to do so. They're not ready for that. They're actually shitheads. This is the "new" part of me I hate - I feel consumed by anger, I don't want to forgive anyone. I hate them, I hope they die and vomit in it. There's not a single kind thought in my brain and I'm not sure how to handle that - I try to think nice but nah.

Well. Do as I say, not as I do.

Yes, but understand that forgiveness, the concept of forgiveness, isn't really for them so much (who the hell knows if they'll benefit from it on some spiritual level?) but for yourself, first and foremost... Their behavior may be, under some circumstances, so evil and sociopathic, that forgiving that behavior may seem ridiculous on the face of it. But forgiving their inability to be otherwise is the first, and perhaps last, step in emotionally processing it: they're just too weak and, in all likelihood, they probably always will be.

Like my addiction to sugar.

They say there are two different kinds of anger -- the kind that responds to abuse and control, and the kind that responds to one's inability to control and abuse as much as one chooses.

Both can be equally toxic at the end of the day.

Comments like "this DVD does not play in my country! Beware of scam!"

OK, well, I can understand the confusion in the early days of DVD, but in 2024?
Even if the product information is incomplete there is usually something about it (or its origins) that gives it away.

Not that I have never made that mistake.
Our tour guide said, if you're going to buy videos then keep in mind that these are different from the ones we have in Europe.
But we thought "different what? different stories ?"
And so we ended up with completely unusable NTSC tapes of Disney World. Bye bye memories. Soooo disappointing.

Here's something that I hate, but I must provide context first.

My wife is one of five children in a family that includes her, three more sisters, a brother, a mother, and a father. Almost all the siblings have paired up (but not yet married) expect for the middle sister who is nearing the conclusion of a stressful tenure to become a nurse.

Anyway, we all spend a lot of time together, and pizza from the convenient store just down the road gets bought for the hurd of us frequently. I am a picky eater, and only like either pepperoni or meat lovers pizza (y'know, the kind with pepperoni, sausage, sometimes ham, etc). When asked what to order, most in the family will say they want supreme, the can with the olives and onions and peppers on it.

Ok, here's what I hate. Almost all of them that say they want supreme will end up eating the meat lovers and not the supreme. Why does this bother me? They eat the only one I eat, and sometimes eat all of it before I even get full. Like, you wanted the supreme. You said you wanted supreme, so why are you eating the meat lovers? You'll eat both kinds of the pizza, but I don't. So please save some for me.

I know this isn't a big deal for everyone, but it really bugs me.

Rant over. At least for now.

Policy changes in the workplace when it’s something that still works. I understand everything changes, I really do, but why does something have to change when it still works just fine?

Piggy-backing on this, my wife bought some pizza from Dominos and got half with banana peppers on them. She ate what didn't have the peppers on it, and leaves me with just a few slices. I don't even think she's ate any with the banana peppers on it, even though she ordered it that way.

Based on reading all of this I’ve come to the conclusion that you should either make sure you are the one picking up the pizza so you can eat what you want first, or take the pizza in the other room once it arrives.
