I finished the show. It never got awful but definitely became convoluted. I know dramas have to continue to add people in as the seasons go on to keep the story going but a show like this doesn't work well with that type of storytelling. There was a story to tell and it had been planned out, adding all sorts of other side bits on and then the ultimate ridiculousness of
David Clarke being alive
takes away from the overall impact.

The first series was the best.

Yes by far. That premise wasn't enough for more than a mini-series and from the beginning I was perplexed how the producers thought that could sustain that for multiple years. As the narrative became increasingly detoured, muddled and convoluted, the answer was clearly "they couldn't". I think I watched the series to the conclusion but, if so, it's all just a blur of mediocrity after the first season.

You did? I thought you stopped after episode 4 of season 2, just as you did with TNT’s Dallas. I believe I made a joke at the time how 2x04 was your breaking point.

Ah, the good old days of TNT bashin’ on the old SoapChat, when instead of today’s 300 we used to get 10-30k people online and everyone got into huge catfights.

I believe that was EMPIRE which, like TNT DALLAS, I quit early in season two and never went back. I'm not positive I watched all of REVENGE -- I may have dipped in & out -- but I stuck with it long enough to be confounded by its meandering plot. REVENGE is probably one of the shows that taught me to trust my instincts to quit watching a series.

Revenge had a great first season. It should have been a mini, or one season only imo.
Just like Wayward Pines : I loved season 1. It was a fun mystery/fantastic ride. But season 2 was so bad. And the show got canceled.

Now, when I enjoy a first season of a show, I am so afraid that the following seasons will be crap... That I am always relieved when season 2 is good, or even better (like Servant)

For some show I love very much, I don't even want a season 2. For exemple I really don't want a new season for WandaVision or for Watchmen. Thank God Damon Lindelof and Warner don't want an other season, even if the first was was a success. If there is no more to tell, then tell no more.

i love Once upon a time and as good as season 1 is season 2 is medicore but season 3 was i think a vast improvement over season 2 so it's sometimes seasons past 2 are better than the previous season as well.
