Sad when I heard of her passing. Loved her as Jessica Fletcher, and in the film Manchurian Candidate.

Sad once again when I heard that Ron Masak who played Mort Metzger also died, just 9 days after Angela.

Oh no, this is such sad news.

I had no idea that the brilliant Ron Masak AKA sheriff Metzger had also passed and it happening so soon after Angela Lansbury.

May these two “Murder She Wrote” icons Rest in Peace.

Well the show was made by Universal and Corymore Productions for the American CBS television network. This is the channel where it originally aired before being sold worldwide when it became a hit.

Actually Universal produced Murder She Wrote solely until 1992, when Corymore Productions came on board to co-produce.

Through Jaws fandom I've picked up that a number of Cabot Cove exteriors were shot on the lot used for Amity on The Jaws Ride. Elm Street and Colonial Street (best-remembered today as the outdoor set for Desperate Housewives) were also used more than once.

I have to be honest ........................................sorry folks

I was never a fan and she ruined Bedknobs and Broomsticks for me as a child with over acting

You couldnt have paid me to watch Murder she wrote I guess because she was in it

however 96 is a grand old age and I guess i do have something she was in on DVD as she was a housemaid / servant in Gaslight starring Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer in 1944

As much as I liked and respected AL, including a great performance in the Manchurian candidate, I never cared for MSW.

I think it is my aversion to plots where everyone is oblivious, except for one main character.

Granted, Sherlock Holmes is somewhat the same in that respect, but I think that it plays differently in a movie than a TV series

because the supporting players in a TV series tend to be caricatures more than characters,

MSW isn't the only TV show with these tropes by any means, although AL made show successful.

Still I celebrate the life of AL and the amazing body of work that she provided
