They could 'chicken out' and just say that Adam made the anonymous tip call. That would allow them to avoid having to explain how Adam managed to slip away from his confrontation-argument with Dr. Larson, don Alexis's red dress and/or wig, then return to continue the argument without Dr. Larson getting really, really concerned about the situation! A dubious wardrobe change in the middle of a high-stakes argument makes Adam lose the advantage of surprise, at the very least. If the building (someone referred to it as 'The Cosmopolitan') only has the one penthouse, then I find it hard to believe anyone else in the building could have seen the fight/push from a lower floor unless the building has a really weird architectural element we are not privy to. I suppose the tip could have come from someone in a neighboring building that is as tall or taller than the Cosmopolitan, but that wasn't how it was originally stated.
There was a great mystery story in this vein on The Edge of Night in the early 1980s, where Margo Dorn was found murdered in her penthouse. The PH was only accessible through the private elevator, and the only people who went up the elevator (separately, according to the security camera) were Margo and her son-in-law Draper Scott (who was the one who found her dead). Everyone (even his wife April) initially thought he killed her because he was the only one seen going up in the elevator mere minutes after she had, though we knew from the beginning that he didn't kill her. We've already seen that security at the Cosmopolitan was lax at best---everyone kept dropping by to bother Alexis, even people she would have advised the front desk to deny entry via that private elevator. But if a mid-rise condo building in a small soap town can have security cameras in the lobby in 1980, I'm sure the Cosmopolitan would have them in 2021 to keep track of the comings and goings of the visitors, including Adam and any other person they decide to inject into the story (perhaps the doctor Adam got fired). Unless of course Dr. Larson's killer employed the same trick the real killer of Margo Dorn used to avoid detection for months....in which case, Dynasty could do a lot worse than Edge of Night when stealing story ideas.
