Anne Bowen (Sharpe's ex wife) created a bombshell when she revealed Danny was infact Richard's son. The revelation happened towards the end of the series, after a 6 week hiatus. The car accident paid for by Sharpe and meant for Sydney (Danny's girlfriend) brought the paternity to where it needed to be. Danny didn't take the news well, leading to a rooftop showdown at Sharpe Plaza. Should Danny have been revealed as Richard's son, much earlier in season 9? Would the disastrous final season have been improved and who knows provided FC with a shot in the arm?

David Sheinkopf (a.k.a. Danny Sharpe later Channing) states his favourite storyline in his limited stint, ('behind the scenes'; from season 9, 1989-'90):

"I liked the whole thing about getting the winery and then losing the winery. I mean that was pretty intense. I was the youngest person to ever run Falcon Crest."

Anne Bowen's character was not in the season nine bible. Not even Richard's paternity According to the Bible, Sidney was going to become Angela's right-hand man.Danny falls in love with Sidney and she fakes it to use him to destroy Sharpe.

Anne and Michael resume their relationship. Anne demands that he return the Falcon Crest to Richard. Michael refuses and rapes her in the car!!!!!! She then reveals that Richard is her father and her father tries to strangle her!!!!!! They eliminated that and Sidney too,
Since CBS had contracted 6 more episodes, they ended in a bad way
It is curious because the prestigious Cine Tela Revue commented in January 1990
"Jane Wyman returns to better say goodbye to fans of “Falcon Crest” Victim of a serious diabetic attack, the star had to abandon filming of the soap opera, her character falling into a deep coma. Angela Channing will wake up for the last six episodes of the saga. She could even appear in March on the American small screen. At her side, another leading lady: Susan Blakely
That is to say that Jane was going to return from Vigil. This episode aired on March 9
By eliminating Sidney's character, Danny made no sense and Richard's paternity even less so.

With the show undergoing all those changes the final year, was the general mood on the set sort of sad? Was there any feeling of resignation among the cast members?
I think there was like a little bit of ODIUM just because there were so many different changes and so many different storylines going on. They [the producers] were trying to bring a new face to the show, trying to bring in a new audience, trying to make it a little bit younger.!!!

But they hated Genele. Andrea was a good actress but until 9-14 her character was disgusting

But Richard's house looked like a shack, not a millionaire's house.
David said that filming ended at the end of January. He made a mistake. The last day of filming for the series was February 26 before Vigil aired and the decision was made to change the day and time of the series.

Curious Gregory Harrison said that they had left so many plots unresolved. That they would need another season.
Fans thought that since it was Jane's wish, they were all finished.
