I am always amazed when I see an actor who is so utterly different from the character they play. Like with Deanna Troi on TNG, it's the same thing here. I'm used to seeing American actors who behave and sound the same way when they are acting or not. With British actors I think they really go for it, the accent, the characterisation. It's amazing I think.
This is true! So many of the actors on
True Blood (a show set in Louisiana) were English or from Commonwealth countries, so their deep-Southern accents were total fabrications. Too often, actors do such louuuuuusy Southern accents that I was pleasantly surprised there weren't any super-bad ones sticking out when I watched.
Speaking of TB, two of my absolute favorites (are you sensing I have a 'type'?) even if they are more "2013" than "2016"
Ryan Kwanten (from Australia, but did a very good Louisiana bayou accent)
and the magnificent Joe Mangianello (who cares where he came from--let's just hope there are
plenty more where he came from)
